More about Then There Was You

description

In my last blog, I talked a little about my upcoming Haven Bay series. This time, I thought I’d share a bit more about the first release in the series, THEN THERE WAS YOU. This book is currently at the proofreader, getting the finishing touches before the release on 29 July and I’m super excited to get it out to you.

When I started planning the Haven Bay series, I was eager to create a new town and a new crop of characters, but I also felt like there were a few loose threads from my Little Sky Romance series that I wanted to resolve. I never intended Sterling Knight to have his own book, but while I was writing Dreaming of You, I found I rather liked him, and I was interested to learn more about him. So rather than starting totally fresh, I decided to make the first book in my new series about him finding love.

Katarina Hopa is essentially the anti-Sterling. With the exception of sharing his determination and work ethic, she’s community-minded while he’s about the bottom line, sentimental where he’s not, and most importantly, she believes there’s more to life than work—and that he’s missing out on it. She’s also not looking for love. She had her great love story, and it crashed and burned in the same horrific accident that ended her professional rally career. But there’s something about Sterling she just can’t get out of her mind.

I loved creating Haven Bay. It’s basically my dream town. Quirky, quaint, and sandwiched between the beach and the forest. If I could move there, I totally would. Writing this book was such fun. I’ve been wrapped up in the Little Sky series for years, and while I adore it, having a change of pace exactly what I needed. Hopefully, Haven Bay has everything that makes Little Sky great, and more.
There’s great banter between Kat and Sterling, and also some awesomely sweet, sexy, and romantic moments.

If this sounds like something you might be into, mark it ‘to-read’ and you’ll be reminded when it comes out on the 29th.

Bye for now!

Then There Was You is live!

It’s here!

Then There Was You is finally live, and I’m so appreciative of the awesome reviews coming through. A massive thank you to everyone who is reading, reviewing, and sharing. And never fear, there are a lot of great things still to come in the Haven Bay series.

For those of you who love the characters and setting and can’t wait to get your hands on more, Two of a Kind will be out in September and I’ve already written first drafts of books 3-5. I started on book 6 yesterday and have plans for at least three more. I’ve enjoyed getting into this series so much and hopefully you guys love it as much as I do.

Two of a Kind, the second in the series, is kind of an opposites attract romance, except Brooke and Jack only appear to be opposites on the outside. Inside, they’re totally kindred spirits. Brooke is sunny and friendly, but she has a stubborn streak a mile wide. Jack is gruff and outdoorsy – a mountain man type. As far as he’s concerned, Brooke is all kinds of wrong for him, but he can’t seem to resist her anyway.

Here’s a snippet:

Brooke turned and launched herself at him. She caught him off guard and he stumbled back a step, his arms closing around her automatically. She’d pressed herself right up against him and he was shocked to feel a tightening in his pants and realize his body was reacting to all the soft, womanly goodness suddenly rubbing over it. His jaw clenched and he willed himself not to get a hard-on. But damn, she felt right in his arms, and she smelled faintly of earth and sweat, but not in an unpleasant way.

“Thank you,” she murmured into his chest. “Today was amazing. I had the best time.”

Not a date, he reminded himself. It would not be appropriate to cop a feel, or steal a kiss.
Instead, he patted her back as he imagined a brother might, and cleared his throat. She stepped away, blushing again. Did she not know how appealing that made her?

“No problem,” he said gruffly.

Remember, jackass, you don’t deserve her gratitude.

“Get some rest and we’ll talk tomorrow.”

She nodded. “Bye, Jack.”

He watched as she hurried off, almost tripping over something invisible on the floor. He shook his head. Only her.

***
And here’s the blurb:

After a lifetime of being held back by illness, blogger Brooke Griffiths is finally healthy enough to pursue her dream of hiking to Mt Everest base camp. The first step in her plan is convincing professional adventurer Jack Farrelly to help her prepare. Only, they exchanged a mind-blowing kiss weeks ago, and he never called, which in a town the size of Haven Bay, is downright awkward. All she has to do is put her pride aside to achieve her goal. Should be easy—right?

Jack Farrelly dated a woman in the public eye before, and he doesn’t care to repeat the experience, no matter how tempting Brooke is. Though the instructor in him wants to help her get ready to hike Mt Everest, he thinks she’s better off setting her sights a little lower. But denying her proves impossible—both professionally and personally—and before long, he’s in deeper than he ever imagined possible.

When old wounds are reopened, can Brooke and Jack overcome their pain of their pasts and take a chance on love? Or will they let the fear of being hurt keep them apart?

Author’s Note: Opposites attract. Outdoorsy hero. Smart heroine with plenty of sass. Quirky small town. Meddling friends and relatives. Sexy-times. Kisses in the forest. True love.
