I have several fun updates! First of all, my paranormal romance I’ve been talking about and worked on last year “Waves of Change” is officially done and currently going through a rigorous editing cycle.

While that’s going on, I’ve been plotting out book 2 and 3 for my Detective Malone books. As much as I love paranormal romance and the new world I’ve created with Four Winds, I want to finish up Mal’s story first.

I’m excited to say I have a great outline all paced out for book 2 and plan to start in on the chapters this weekend! What a way to spend Valentine’s day.

So, those cups of coffee are going to come in handy. Think of me this weekend when you’re enjoying chocolate and wine. I may be having those, too but I’m starting with several cups of the dark brew.

Hi, friends! I’ve been busy working on a new book. My new book is a paranormal romance, which also happens to be my favorite genre to read. I love the drama and escapism of it.

I’ve got a strong outline and 6 finished chapters so far. I sent out a request for beta readers to review my first 5 chapters and have done some updates so far. If anyone else wants to beta read, hit me up on my contact link! I’d love to know what you think.

Working Synopsis: Anna, single mom and accounting manager for Four Winds investment firm has a sneaking suspicion that the owner and directors across town are not normal humans. All she knows is that this difference is preventing her from climbing the corporate ladder and fulfilling her career goals. 

Colin, a mysterious, sleek, dark, Irishman, works at Four Wind’s executive building downtown as an information specialist. Often using questionable methods to secure and protect information, he instantly dislikes Anna’s interest in the people who work at the highly secure Four Wind’s downtown office. 

Forced to work together on an issue when the owner is out of town on business, the two struggle to work together as they discover more about each other and their clashing turns to mutual respect and possibly more. 

I feel like this book is going much more smoothly than Bad Company. I’m not sure if that’s because it’s my preferred genre or because my outline is much better thought out. It still will need rewrites, but it’s really moving, folks! Also might have to do with the fact that I’ve had this book in my head for something like 10 years…

Also, notice that my site name is more official! jenschoenbeinwrites.blog.com is now officially jenschoenbein.com. I feel like a grown-up now.

I realize I need to get a Facebook page out there and fully come up in the 20th century. I’ll get there at some point. I also hope to get a better website format, but one thing at a time. Hang in there with me, please. I’m learning.

My first non-fiction book just released!

This book is a bit of a passion project for me. After a lot of research into history, finding out more about the different cultures of the world, I started to notice a trend. Throughout history, with differing cultures and differing religions, our ancestors followed similar patterns to celebrate the changing of the seasons. Our ancestors were much more reliant on the earth than we are today. They also took better care of it.

I wrote this book to help spark some interest in the world around us, helping others become aware of the connection between our annual activities and the changing seasons. I hope you enjoy it!

I mean, geez! Look at that smiling face!

I couldn’t feel more blessed after Saturday’s author fair. I obsessed about how many books to bring, and in the end I sold all but one of the books I brought! *Mind Blown* I also donated one to the Peoria Public Library, so be sure to check it out if you’re in the area. I plan to, several times.

I honestly had no idea I would sell so many. I thank every one of you, supporting a local author.

I met so many wonderful people this past Saturday. There were tons of good writers and fun, interesting readers. A couple of local authors held talks about writing and publishing.

I was surprised by my parents and Grandma, who had driven an hour to come support me! I’m proud to say that I had several friends come support me as well.

So, I’d say it was a success. It was good for building a reader base, but it was also good for my soul.

My first author fair will be at the Peoria Public Library at the North Branch (3001 W Grand Parkway, Peoria, IL 61615) on November 2, 2019. I’ll be available from 2-4 pm to sell signed paperback copies of my book, talk about my book and upcoming books planned!

I’m very excited about this and hope to see you there!

I finally got my proof copy in the mail! I did a little happy dance. Really. You can see I was so excited, I didn’t even take time to get my coat off.

I was able to do a physical perusal of the finished copy and signed it off for print and hit the lovely publish button. Pretty cool stuff for a newbie author. Wow, that still sounds weird.

I’ve been humbled by everyone’s support in this book and kind words. I’ve completed outlines to three new fiction books already and am excited to get started on them. Spoiler: only one of them is a Mal #2, the other two are new, exciting worlds. I’ll leak out more when I get into writing them.

A little tidbit about me: I’m an herbalist and I make all of the products in my house. It saves money, sure, but I also like making cleaning products, body butter, etc that isn’t full of chemicals. I’m putting together recipe booklets and will publish those as well.

Wow, publish one book and all of a sudden I’ve got a huge slew of things I’m working on. How did that happen?

The e-book version of my new book, Bad Company, just went live last night. I’m so very excited! It’s been so much work to get each piece of this accomplished that it felt sort of surreal to see it on Amazon.

The paperback version should be available in a week or so.

This has been a long time in the making. It’s amazing how many pieces have to be completed before you get to publishing. I’m glad it’s finally here!

I already have a short book in the works, The Art of Living Seasonally. It’s a bit of a inspirational book that has ideas to help you live a little closer to nature. Kind of a passion project of mine.

I also have several book outlines that I’d like to write. One would be a continuation of Mal’s story, a paranormal book and another mystery, maybe with a bit more romance.

This is Jen, and I’m just pleased as whiskey that you’re here. I would be pleased as punch, but who really likes punch? ‘Sides, whiskey is so much better.

I just finished what I think will be the final draft of my first novel. I’m currently working with a graphic designer to get a super cool cover. Can’t wait for the first review so I can share it with everyone.

By everyone, I mean my sister and my husband. I doubt I have any other followers. But hey, you gotta start somewhere and I love my fans. You two are the best!
