New Slave Story
I have started a new story this morning about a slave who escapes from a plantation and finds friendship and acceptance on a small farmstead. Called Runaway, it is the tale of Joshua, who finds refuge in a barn and is discovered by six-year old Clara, a bond soon developing between them.
After writing The Hanging Tree I was very aware of the melancholy effect of the story. Runaway is intended as a foil to this and will hopefully touch readers in a positive way.
I hope it will be released in Kindle and paperback formats at the end of April.
As an aside, the Kindle edition of the historical novel The Shepherd of St Just will be available for pre-order from April 1st. It is the third in the series I loosely termed as my 'outcasts trilogy.'

Runaway - a tale about a slave in 1863
Runaway is an intimate tale of innocence, acceptance and freedom. It relates the story of Joshua, a slave who finds refuge on a Missouri farmstead in 1863. Discovered by six year old Clara, she agrees to keep his presence a secret, but not all secrets can be kept, despite best intentions (for the full description go to the book's Amazon page).
This book contains the same descriptive qualities as The Hanging Tree and creates an emotional balance with that book.
The Kindle edition of Runaway is now available for pre-order and there will be a paperback edition available from the release date of the 27th May.
