Ha escrito cuento, novela, literatura infantil y juvenil, y guiones para cine y televisión. Estudió Derecho en la UNAM. Ha sido coordinador de talleres de creación literaria y lectura para la UNAM, el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes, la Universidad Iberoamericana, la Asociación de Escritores de México, Sogem, Casa Lamm, Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana y de talleres por Internet para Televisa y las librerías Un Lugar de la Mancha; secretario general de la AEM y jefe de redacción de la revista Punto de partida. Parte de su obra ha sido traducida al inglés, alemán y griego.
