Do You Enjoy Being A Beginner?

Everyone is a beginner at some point with everything they do. I'm new to blogging. I enjoy reading them, but writing them is another story. :)

I was a beginner writer in 2017. I tried out a free writing platform that my friend had told me about. I was an avid reader and now wanted to try writing as an artistic outlet. I had no clue where to begin. This platform was perfect because it allowed me my own space and time to try and learn how to write. There was no pressure, because there were no expectations if my book was terrible. It was my hobby....

I wrote a little every day to get the hang of it. I was a huge Jane Austen fan and I started reading clean romance books. I wanted to try writing a clean contemporary romance. It was short, but I enjoyed the process. I went on to write other short stories and novellas that became a series. In 2019 I got up the courage to self publish a series that I had written. That's how I became an author.

One person who was a big help with reviewing my books and giving me her honest feed back was Katie Watkins. She tells it to you like it is! It wasn't easy hearing it at first. But, I want to give her a huge THANK YOU for her honesty!! It helped me to see that I still had a lot of growing to do. It's rare to have that opportunity.

I had one of my favorite authors give me a developmental edit on my last book. That is something I never imagined. She made a post on Instagram and I signed up when I saw that she was now sharing her knowledge. After having to revise my manuscript, it helped me learn a LOT. I felt like a beginner writer all over again, but in a good way. Thank you Julianne!

It further emphasized to me how learning never stops at any age. We might feel we are ready for things in life that we aren't. I thought I was ready for a full-time writing career. I had to be okay with saying that I'm NOT! :)

I appreciate that being a beginner for some people may take longer than others. And that is absolutely okay. I'm thankful that I can look at a situation and be able to be honest with myself. I'm happy with writing as a hobby at this stage and continuing to learn. There is always room for improvement in anything we do.

Thank you to ALL of the bloggers and reviewers that took time out of your busy schedules to read and review my three books over the past two years!! I don't want to leave anyone out. You have All been so helpful!

I can honestly say in hindsight, that I enjoy being a beginner. I just started a new job working for my husband yesterday! I'm very excited to help him and his business. There is a lot to do and I will have a busy summer of learning something new. :)

There are so many good books that I haven't had a chance to dig into yet. There is a book with a lot of buzz in clean romance by Esther Hatch that I bought and have on my TBR. It was nominated for a Swoony Award. A Proper Scoundrel by Esther Hatch

Enjoy your summer reading!
