…and maybe that’s because you’re left shopping for ‘the person who has everything’, the friend that is impossible to buy for (‘what do they even like?!’), or after something a little more special that a few of you can all chip in to- let me guide you through on our last day of Giftmas!
Last year I did another version of this guide with various genres of gifts (including art, charity, cinema, foodie, relaxation, outdoorsy, and subscription which I’ve linked here) so if you’re after more ideas with my favourite places for everything from a heavenly massage where you can wear pyjamas, the best place for a Sunday morning in nature to a fancy-pants cinema evening- do head there for more ideas!
Today I’m sharing a handful of things I think would make for gorgeous not-physical pressies, and I’m going to begin with a Substack subscription, a.k.a the modern magazine subscription. I say this because I still am an ardent Red Magazine subscriber (I always love getting it through my postbox at the end of every month!), but I also love the thought of gifting the words of some of my favourite writers into someone I loves inbox to brighten up their commute. I recommend my favourites all the time, but it’s a bit like having access to a glorious online zine in the palm of your hands. If you aren’t sure where to begin my current loves include India Knight (which I think is excellent value for money as she has the best taste and shares so many wonderful, cosy things), Wooden City by Issac Rangaswami (or London Centric) for the London dweller desperate to learn more about their city, The Trowel for excellent (and hilarious) beauty writing and A Lot On Her Plate by Rosie Birkett for the best recipes too. I’m pretty sure there’s something for everyone on Substack (I also love Nick Hornby’s reads which I know my dad would love)- plus, if you know someone partial to a vintage recommendation, a great playlist and romantic ways of spending the weekend- may I recommend The Sentimental Wardrobe too (wink wink!)
Okay, admittedly, I’m cheating a bit here with this present- because this it is a book. But it’s no ordinary book– but a beautiful book, filled with creative prompts, thoughts and ideas to encourage you to take the best out of each day in the new year. Physical in one sense but full of gentle, creative suggestions from exceptional artists to squeeze the juice out of every day. One of my favourite books to read at the beginning of a year is Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, and I feel like this could be another special way of starting a new year too.
For my birthday, one of my favourite presents from my partners incredibly kind family was a membership to the V&A Museum– somewhere I adore visiting, but something I’d never have treated myself to. Not only do you get access to all their incredible exhibitions (as many times as you’d like to see them!), but they have a members restaurant, talks and events as well as gift shop discounts (and don’t I know I’ll be utilising those). It’s one of my favourite places to spend an afternoon in London, and having an excuse to visit is a true treat.
Finally, another completely unique present for the pal aching for more analog is a starter pack to The Sunday Letter Project. Created by Wildflower Illustration Co. it’s an invitation (and kit) to carve out time, each Sunday, to write. “We know how hard it can be to find time for things like this, so we thought that a collective, weekly movement would be a powerful way to create a letter-writing ritual.” Whether you dedicate it to yourself or your loved ones, it’s a unique way of unwinding and reflection- with the starter pack including letter paper and everything you need to get going. Plus, there’s also a Sunday Pals network, to open this up to finding and writing to a pen pal too- which I think is really, really special.
Plus! There’s two things I left out of last years guide that I would like to add below also…
A Restaurant Voucher: Again, this might be more of a club together job- but even if it’s to a bakery you know they love and swing by most mornings (e.g Lannan in Edinburgh or Pophams in London!) or somewhere they’ve been desperate to try for dinner- this would be a gorgeous idea.
A Starter Course: Whether that’s illustration, writing or ceramics- there are some gorgeous courses that would make really spoiling presents. Henry Holland does brilliant mug workshops in his studio and The Bookseller Crow in Crystal Palace also do creative writing courses, which I’m even eyeing up myself.
Thank you so much for staying tuned this year, I really hope you’ve been able to find some good ideas from brilliant makers and businesses! Have a wonderful Christmas!x

Giftmas Gift Guides 2025: Day 6, For Him…
[image error] ( Hilary Grant hat , Ffern fragrance , Goat Rodeo Goods seasoning , Postcard Models kit , Bare Bones chocolate , Pump Street orange slices , Choosing Keeping keyring )
*post contains affiliate links For the sixth day of Giftmas, it was all about picking out the perfect gift for him…And when I asked about giving for men this year, I was met with some quite specific requirements including, but not limited to:
Dad ideas, but no socks (a shame) or whiskey (fair).Fussy men.Men with no hobbies or interests (easy!)and too cool brothers.as you can see, the scope is broad- and ruling out socks (of which I unfortunately am at an age where I appreciate a nice pair) cuts things down significantly. I jest, I jest! How hard can it be?! Fortunately, there are some gorgeous brands out there creating things for even the fussiest of folk- and not a tool bag, bottle opener, hip flask or cufflink in sight.
And I’ll start with Hilary Grant– because my goodness do they have some gorgeous things. A textile design and knitwear factory based in Orkney. Hilary specialises in pattern and truly outstanding knitted accessories; with their hats and scarves being some of the most timeless and expertly crafted I’ve seen (the colour selection alone is stunning, and how special to have one made so beautifully). Plus, their blankets are also exhibition-levels of gorgeous, and would make the most special gift.
One of my favourite discoveries when compiling this years guides was discovering Postcard Models. A family-based Kent company who ‘turn architecture into beautifully detailed miniatures’- creating small models of familiar and personal places, ready for you to build and create at home. I adore the ethos and sentimentality behind these, and the fact they’re also a gorgeous activity to sit down and take careful time over (especially if you have someone in your life who fancies trying something new). I haven’t come across anything like this, and think having a finished result on their mantlepiece would be so lovely.
I know fragrance can be a tricky one to get right, but if I’m being honest- most men I know love ‘some smelly bits’, as my nan would say. It feels a little inaccurate to boil Ffern down to the ‘smelly bits’ category- but if you’re looking for a truly striking scent, accompanied by storytelling and something a little out of the ordinary- their fragrances are some of the best. In our household we seem to now share them too.
Another thing that I think is always a safe bet- whether they’re too cool with painfully expensive taste or you simply aren’t sure where to begin- is with food. Whether that’s a self-made hamper (I’ve been known to pull together some good oils, jars and kitchen bits) or a cookbook with some dry ingredients ready to go- I don’t think you can go too far wrong. This year I loved discovering Goat Rodeo Goods and their genius seasonings (this roast potato one is, obviously, excellent) and Pump Street’s excellent chocolate coated orange slices; which I think Michael would be happy with as the entire contents of his stocking. Additionally, these miniature Bare Bones bars also make 10/10 mini gifts, and are some of the best chocolate I’ve had.
If there’s one item that I can almost guarantee would be a runaway success, it’s this tangerine keyring from Choosing Keeping. Of all the fashion items and accessories I have purchased this year, I am almost certain this keyring has garnered the most compliments. So much so, my boyfriend immediately asked why I hadn’t got him one too when I said I’d got one (he’s a big tangie lover) and their collection is exceptional. Also including a jam sandwich, pancetta lardon (I know), fried egg and slice of cheese- I think it’s a small but mighty present indeed.
Some other lovely suggestions for the fella in yer life! For the traveller, I love the Ace & Prince travel bag – which not only is gorgeous, but incredibly reasonable and super handy. I adore their bags, too!For any football lovers in the house, Michael has recommended this book as we approach another World Cup Year (dun, dun DUN). He has heard very good things about this, and keeps saying ‘I really want to read this’, so take this as your sign! For the music lover, I think a subscription to the Rough Trade Club (Discovery) is a great idea. You get their album of the month delivered directly to your door, which includes limited pressings, bonus content and beautiful artwork too. It could be a really great ‘let’s all chip in for him’ present too!I’ve also added previous links to guides for the men in your life, if you need further reading too (as well as some extra picks below- I didn’t want to repeat ideas so there’s a lot to get stuck in to)! 2015 (boyfriend / 2015 (dad) / 2016 (boys, general) / 2016 (dad) / 2017 (partner) / 2017 (dad) / 2018 / 2019 / 2020 / 2021

Giftmas Gift Guides 2025: Day 5, For The Teachers
(Goose Glitters Calendar, Notebook, Pump Street Festive Selection, Hand Cream)
Oh hello there! It’s a new category! And one that came up a handful of times when I asked what kind of guides people would like to see this year- and honestly, I bloomin’ loved the idea of putting together this one.
For us, the jump from nursery to school this year has felt enormous, and it doesn’t pass me by the effort and time it goes into nurturing and teaching one child, let alone a whole classroom. I struggle getting us both to the gates on time some mornings, let alone going through phonics for the first time with 29 others in tandem! So how to say thank you at the end of the year?! Essentially, you’re buying someone something who you don’t know that well but do know does an amazing job and really deserves a treat. So this is for the teachers and school staff. The helpers and the people who give so, so many hours to making your child’s day a good one. Filled with possibility, fun and new things, because they care.
And when it came to plotting this out, I knew exactly who to ask when it came to gift ideas! My best friend Gemma was a primary school teacher and thankfully knows exactly what a good pressie looks like on the playground (and beyond)- so I thought I’d pop a list below with her best suggestions. It goes without saying that one of the most thoughtful things is simply a lovely handwritten card (or original piece of artwork created by tiny hands)- but if you need other ideas, we have plenty!
Stationery: Although this might seem boring, a lot of notebooks, flat desk pads, sticky notes and calendars are gotten through- so lovely stationery is always thoughtful. Planners, pens and anything to help with a little organisation (I absolutely love Goose Glitters for joyful picks, Present & Correct for planners and Papersmiths for the most gorgeous pens). Chocolate & Treats: Although cliché, something to enjoy over the Christmas break is always welcome, especially if it’s not something you’d ordinarily buy for yourself. Biscuits, chocolate or something like the Popham’s or Violet cookies would go down a storm, I’m sure. I love Audrey’s for their little novelty chocolates- the hedgehogs are adorable and Pump Street for the absolute best Christmas selection (croissant or panettone chocolate anyone?)! Additionally, one of Gemma’s friends was also given an enormous box of Yorkshire tea bags as the child knew she was a huge tea drinker- which I think is incredibly thoughtful too! Knoops and Hotel Chocolat do my favourite hot chocolates and stirrers too, if you’re asking. Candles & Hand Cream: The same goes for a gorgeous candle, or something a little more every-day like hand cream. Perfect if you’ve been washing hands lots, or out on a chilly playground- as far as I’m concerned L’Occitane is the home of the hands. A Cosy Cup: Although mugs can’t always be used in school, something thermal or with a lid is always welcome and very handy (I’ve popped one in the edit below which I found after some extensive research, which I think could be brilliant)! Gift Cards & Vouchers: Gift cards for somewhere general (i.e John Lewis, Amazon, W H Smiths) which, as Gem says, “Could be spent on yourself or the class. Although it’s nice to treat yourself, sometimes if a school doesn’t have big class budgets, it’s nice to be able to pick up some needed things, or a couple of lovely books if you’re unsure what to spend it on”. Additionally, a coffee shop or take-away (/Deliveroo) voucher is always a huge treat after a long day too. Some extra ideas here!Come back tomorrow for day 6!

Giftmas Gift Guides 2025: Day 4, For The Little People In Your Life
(
Projektityyny Stocking

Mini Tiles Pack
,
The Looking Book
,
PJs
,
Marmello Crocodile
&
September Child cardigan
)
I get it, I know what they like. 500 small pieces. Primary coloured plastic. LIFE SIZE. Where’s that part gone? What do you mean it needs 5 AAA batteries? And that is fine, of course it is! But you’re also at capacity on space. Have about thirty boxes of mis-matched toys in every corner and as much as you’d welcome a 4ft Bluey that will only need 12 hours of charging a week into your home, you’re hoping to add in some… other options too.
And I know! I know- not every gift can be an heirloom. Crafted from B Corp certified oak by small woodland pixies especially for your first born (with a guaranteed play-with-me certificate to boot). Not everything will be played with for forever, and the heart wants what the heart wants- especially when it’s four.
But! There are some things I know I can lean on. That will generate excitement almost on par with a new Lego gift set (even, if, ahem, that’s from the parent). So I’ll start with these- the toy that’s about as obvious as saying The Beatles are your favourite band- but find me a parent who doesn’t welcome some more magnetic tiles into their home, I dare you! Not only are they endlessly entertaining for little hands- but this small set I picked up after seeing Alice share them earlier this year has been an actual godsend for on the go. They’ve saved dinners, train journeys and quiet moments and whether you look at the mini or full size; I love that they can be added to which makes them even more of a favourite for us (see also: Brio train sets).
In terms of something a little more sentimental; I do think the gift of a beautiful stocking for a little one is a really gorgeous gift (especially if you’re buying for a child that isn’t your own and you don’t know where to begin). Projektityyny have the most gorgeous harlequin numbers, and their baby quilts are truly keep-forever and then pass down pieces.
And speaking of keep forever gifts (which, obviously, should be everything!) but shopping vintage for small people is arguably one of my favourite things to do. So much of little A’s baby wear was sourced secondhand (I’ve linked a post with some of my favourite kiddies vintage brands below and here too) but recently I’ve loved the selection at September Child (Kate has the most enormous selection of hand knits) and the newly launched Marmello, who are sharing beautiful curated vintage interiors and gifts for children (the ladies are hosting a pop up next weekend too, with all details here)! The toys they have been sharing are so incredibly nostalgic, and would look beyond beautiful in a nursery.
Finally, I’ve included a beautiful book (and some trusty jammies) that was kindly gifted to little A by our neighbours last year, and has been one of the best activity-style books he has (so much so I kind of want a copy myself)! It’s called The Looking Book, and would be amazing for young children who are either just starting to get into their crayons, or have a keen love of drawing. There are so many prompts of things to observe and draw, and we’ve had lots of fun taking it out and paying attention to the world around us- what a special pressie it’s been!
But that’s only the tip of the toy iceberg…One of my favourite Substack reads this week was Frankie from Mumish’s ‘The most played with kids’ gifts as voted for by the mums of Substack’ post, which was filled with excellent ideas (and reiterates my deep love of magna-tiles too) from babies to small children- I have taken note!
Earlier this year, we were kindly sent a set of the Stapelstein blocks which I was very excited about. I’d heard a lot about these rainbow stepping stones- so I was intrigued to see how we’d get on. Admittedly, they’re certainly an investment, and I wanted to see how much they were used before I spoke about them properly- but they have been a hit. Used for building, towers, carrying things, pretend Bertie Bassett hats and miniature islands; they’ve been a total pillar for creative and imaginary play in our house- and if you were pondering a present (or something multiple people could club together on) these would be a great suggestion.
For beautiful prints and art for nurseries and children’s bedrooms, my friend Isobel’s brand, Greta’s Gallery has the most beautiful selection of graphic, retro and artwork prints that ooze, in her own words, ‘warmth, life and timeless charm’. I would happily adorn all walls with these!
I think any book is a wonderful present for little ones, but the yellow clothbound Puffin 85th Anniversary Editions are truly gorgeous. With Charlotte’s Web, Matilda, The Story of a Wimpy Kid and The Story of Tracey Beaker amongst the selection- I think these are gorgeous for older readers.
Finally, one place I’ve been spotting really brilliant gift ideas for kids are in gallery shops. Whether that’s the V&A, National Portrait Gallery or Southbank Centre (all of which have great websites too)- it’s so worth having a nosey for small brands you may not have stumbled across or some slightly more imaginative suggestions too!
I’ve also added previous links to guides for children if you need further reading too (as well as some extra picks below)! 2021 / Favourite Kids Brands / 2023Come back tomorrow for day 5!

Giftmas Gift Guides 2025: Day 3, Special Little Somethings
[image error] ( Goose Glitters Stickers , Not Another Bill Comb , Cambridge Imprint Notebook , Tape, Nailberry Nail Polish , Audrey’s Chocolate , Alma Proust Seeds , Quinn Says Nasturtium Print , Badges)
*post contains affiliate links and press samples It’s day 3 of Giftmas and today it’s all about the special little somethings…Now, before I begin, I will say that I don’t think spending £20 on a present is a small amount at all; but with things feeling more pricey than ever- I very much recognise that choosing something special for around £20 might not always feel straightforward. So often, websites curate the most novelty items in their smaller budget gifting categories and I hope today’s guide can act as a small reminder that to buy something thoughtful and special, it really doesn’t always correlate with the amount you spend. So, whether you’re buying for the best friend who insists ‘I don’t need anything!!’, the well dressed secret Santa who works on the floor above, or you’re simply searching for small joy sparkers for the girlies- I hope I’ve got some lovely options!
So let’s begin with the sweet stuff! And not just any sweet stuff either. I’m sure you’ve seen the pastel hued wrappers and romantic italics of Audrey’s chocolate popping up, but if you haven’t- I’m pleased to be the one to introduce you to this iconic Hove chocolatier. Not just style over substance (but my goodness if Miriam Maisel was opening a bar I bet she’d be happy), this chocolate has taken the internet by storm. Whether you’re looking for a classic bar or Blyton-worthy box of chocolate frogs- they have so many special things.
And from good chocolate design, to good stationery design. I couldn’t not include one of my favourite stationers, Cambridge Imprint. Not only are their exercise books (and hardback notebooks) beautiful (and incredibly reasonable), but there’s something quite exciting about unwrapping a new notebook for the start of a new year (and thinking about all the imminent Morning Pages opportunities, too)! Additionally, for more joy and an enormous injection of fun I couldn’t not include my absolute favourite stickers from Goose Glitters. No bare surface is safe from me with these! Laura’s designs marry collage, dreamy storytelling and heady retro nostalgia and I truly cannot get enough. Everyone needs a pack for their laptop/diary/phone (tick as appropriate)!
Now, on the subject of joyful nostalgia, I’m going to need you to hear me out on this one. I know this isn’t hugely practical and I know very few people now opt for a cassette to listen to things over a Spotify subscription (ahem). But! Being a sucker for band merch and impractical nostalgia- I quite like the idea of treating a pal to their favourite artist’s album on tape (with a nail varnish, for ultimate retro sleepover vibes), or picking up some fun badges for them. Yes this very much speaks to my tastes (and my denim jacket), but imagine unwrapping this Laufey tape?! Alternatively her Christmas record would be a dream to play through December too.
Another gorgeous gift comes in from Alma Proust, who have the most beautiful seed shop and growing collections (with a truly beautiful variety too). These seeds would make wonderful stocking fillers, or slipped into cards; wrapped up and posted as a beautiful little gift to open and grow for the New Year. For another floral inspired gift, I also adore this Apricot Nasturtium print by Harriet Watson on Quinn Says. Charlie has the most stunning eye for artwork and print curation (and, well, everything), and picking up something this beautiful (and popping it in a second hand frame) would be the most beautiful present.
Finally, one place I have been loving for fully customisable gifts (tell me who doesn’t love their name on something lovely)- is Not Another Bill. My boyfriend and I have been coming back here for a number of various gifting reasons recently, and every time I’ve spotted something completely gorgeous. This comb is a perfect example of what they do so well; small little treats made personal. This costs less than £10, but if you have a bit of a bigger budget there are some seriously beautiful things including beautiful ruffled kids Christmas sacks– but more on those tomorrow!
And if you’re still after more for (just under) a score… Known for her truly wonderful pottery pets, Studio Alice Johnson has created these one of a kind dog magnets and Christmas decorations which begin at £10. I am completely obsessed, and it’s taking a lot for me not to want to cover my fridge in these dog magnets…And speaking of excellent decorations- who doesn’t want a golden Popham’s pastry hanging on their tree? An absolute no brainer for the pastry lover (and whilst you’re over on Popham’s they have other excellent foodie presents too, including but very much not limited to A CROISSANT HAIR CLIP). I know.If you know someone who loves a UK staycation, I’ve been following Sundae Press for a while now, and am just completely head over heels for their travel guides. The design, the concept and the idea is just gorgeous and if you know someone who likes darting around- I think one of these would be a surefire hit.I’ve also added links to previous years guides for shopping for the small joys (and some other picks below too)! 2018 / 2019 / 2020 / 2021 / 2023Come back tomorrow for day 4!

Giftmas Gift Guides 2025: Day 2, For Your Female Lead
(TBCo. frkl. pin, Mora Frame, Studio Bowe Necklace, Vintage Earrings, Daisy x Shrimps Jewellery Case, Sézane Pin, If Only If Nightie, Jones Road Lipstick, Victoria Beckham Mascara)
The starring role in your life! Award winning brilliance! And whether that’s your best friend, sister-in-law, mum, work wife, aunty or nan, there is something deeply satisfying about treating the wonder women in your life to something special. I feel like these are the presents I spend the most time poring over- opening tens of tabs trying to pick the one thing that I feel sums up how special they are to me (whilst also trying to pick something they’ll love too). Quite often, for these special humans- I end up veering down the ‘what would I like to receive’ alley; very much opting for gifts that I would selfishly love to unwrap myself (with the absolute no brainers for me always being: a good pair of pyjamas, jewellery (and not in a fancy and very pricey little blue box kind of way), a fresh notebook, candles, a new lipstick or something sentimental). The hard thing is simply remaining in budget and not getting swept up in a ‘one for them, one for me, one for them…’ state of shopping either. But hey, sometimes you have to just check…
Unintentionally, this year I seem to have focussed a little more on accessories, and small treasures for the twinkly eyed magpie. I very rarely ever treat myself to anything sparkly, so coming across brands like Bertie’s Studio Bowe this year have been a total treat. I’m completely obsessed with her joyful, handmade jewels and love the fact they’re carefully crafted from vintage beads too. Each one is unique and they just feel like a little piece of sunshine when you’re wearing them- she is one talented woman! And speaking of talented women, sunshine woman numero deux, Angela Scanlon, and her brand frkl. has collaborated with TBCo. (home of some of my absolute favourite jammies, with 30% off everything right now) on the most gorgeous scarf pin. It’s unlike anything else I’ve seen, and love the idea of wearing it with everything from a triangle scarf, on a beret, denim jacket or kilt too. It’s very, very cool indeed.
And when it comes to jewellery, I don’t think you have to spend a fortune, or buy brand new to gift true treasure. Earlier this year my friend Bea bought me the most beautiful vintage earrings and not only are they one in a million, but they’re unlike anything I have too. And for someone who already has a dreamy collection? The retro-inspired travel cases from Daisy London are beautiful bedside keepsakes too. Another not-so-secret favourite place for excellent accessories is Sézane. Far more than just perfect knitwear and timeless leather bags (is there anything they can’t do); the earrings and hair accessories they do always blow me away and are always exceptional quality (and beautifully packaged) too.
Plus, I know it’s cliché, but I can cross my heart that I will never, ever tire of receiving a nice pair of pyjamas or nightwear at Christmas. Ever. Like socks, I feel like giving PJs at Christmas gets a bad rep (although, like jim-jams I will never be disappointed with some fancy Le Bon Shoppe’s). Undeniably, If Only If do some of the most beautiful seasonal nightwear (the tartan and gingham is stuff of dreams), but I also love their socks, slippers and hot water bottle covers for thoughtful presents too.
If they’re big on their beauty, I don’t think you can go wrong with a good mascara or lipstick. I’d always start with Lisa Eldridge for reds, Violette for beautiful balms and Jones Road for your-lips-but-better nudes. The Victoria Beckham mascara also remains one of my all time favourites and always feels like a real treat.
And finally! One of this years favourite discoveries comes from Mora; the most beautiful handmade frames built for your gorgeous photo booth strips and customisable with 73 different colour and style combinations. Framing things and finding homes for photos (that isn’t on my fridge) seems to be a job I may never get on top of, so having someone do this for you would be a hugely thoughtful gift (even better if they fancied coming round with a nail and a hammer to put it up)! Mora’s orders have closed until January, *but* a little birdie has informed me they’re launching gift cards too (so you can let you lucky recipient pick their own combination)- so give them a follow for updates!
And if my bestie budget was limitless I’d also be picking up these too… Something Cosy: Last year I asked for a bonnet from Budgie Club and their knits have remained some of my absolute favourites. The collars! The jumpers- all heaven, and in the most gorgeous fluffy colours and designs. I’m also in love with the sailor collars and new bonnette’s from Straw London (Emily has the most beautiful eye for curation), and I also think these mittens from Amateur Weather Observers are adorable.Something lovely to-do : Who is saying no to the offer of a spa day? The offer of a facial, massage or gift of simply being horizontal is a small slice of heaven, but I also love the idea of a craft workshop somewhere like Paper Stories , an evening of painting and wine at Pinot and Picasso or a ceramics workshop too.Something to their door: I know I’ve mentioned Uncut Stems previously, but a gorgeous flower subscription is a really special gift (especially one that means they can play florist in their own kitchen). Petalon are another wonderful option, as well as Smith and Munson too.I’ve also added previous links to guides for your bestie if you need further reading too (as well as some extra picks below)! 2016 / 2017 / 2018 / 2019 / 2020 / 2021 / 2023Come back tomorrow for day 3 of Giftmas!

Giftmas Gift Guides 2025: Day 1, For The Home
(Odysea Olive Oil, Projektityyny Napkins, Ratch Vintage Fish, Matilda Goad Cutlery & Matchbox, Dowse Lemon Squeezer, The Bun Shop Pot, Jess Elliott Dennison Book)
We’re so back baby!
After a fallow year in 2024, which I fully put down to moving house and living a between towers of boxes and bubble wrap, my Giftmas gift guides are back! They’re one of the things I look forward to most when it comes to creating content, styling images, pulling together brilliant small businesses, and rifling through everything gorgeous online to hopefully create a grotto of ideas for those you love the most. So this week, and every day for 7 days, I’ll be sharing a new guide filled with handpicked items- as well as a larger edit which will hopefully hold your hand through any and all Christmas shopping (especially, if like me, you haven’t started yet)!
And today we begin with the home. Whether that’s a little something for your best friends new abode, a gift for your brother who fancies himself a personal Michelin star (George, if you’re reading, I would award you one if I could) or something special for your mother in law’s kitchen- I think I’ve got some lovely suggestions. Plus, the wonderful thing about buying gifts for the home is there are a few categories you can fall into:
The useful and the tasty: Food items which they’ll love and use (and might not treat themselves to, i.e a hamper or some very posh olive oil).
The things they’d never buy for themselves: Little luxuries that they’d love but probably won’t get around to buying; napkins, a tiny fish lemon squeezer (important) or a precious matchbox that makes the treat of lighting a candle a real occasion.
The little upgrades: A gorgeous cutlery set, a serving plate or a beautiful handmade mug that feels that tiny bit more special than the one they’ve had since they went to uni…
And one thing I always think is brilliant is vintage or antique homeware. It’s the easiest way of picking something unique and one of a kind, without spending a small fortune. Ratch Vintage have a particularly special selection of pieces, including this beautiful fish platter which would look just as special as a centrepiece (flanked with bowls of chips and tartare sauce) as it would on a wall. They also have match pots, sailing boats and a whole range of beautiful (and ridiculously well priced items) you absolutely didn’t know existed too.
In other things I didn’t know existed until recently- we have this tiny fish lemon squeezer from Dowse; one of my absolute favourite shops for home and lifestyle items (and foodie bits too) and the kind of shop I’m almost confident I could shop for everyone in. This, as well as this mini matchbox holder from Matilda Goad (something we received as a gift and cherish) and gorgeous napkins from Projektityyny are two classic items that someone might never treat themselves to, but would add a little shine to the ordinary at home moments, which I’m pretty sure is where the magic lies. And speaking of Matilda Goad (because my goodness I could spend a fortune on that website), in my opinion, a very special gift would be a little cutlery upgrade. Cutlery is absolutely not something I think most people get around to upgrading, but having always loved Matilda’s sets (and Sabre, oh Sabre!) unwrapping it would be such a treat.
Another item I will include year after year is the humble cookbook, and Jess Elliott Dennison’s have grown to be some of my most loved in my kitchen. Not only is she a wonderful human, but her recipes are delicious and make being gently adventurous during the week with a family feel like something achievable. Throw in a bottle of posh oil (or anything lovely from brands like Odysea, Goat Rodeo or White Mausu) and you’ve got yourself a delightful foodie gift.
Finally, when putting these guides together I came across The Bun Shop, a beautiful Brighton based ceramics brand run by Hannah, specialising in characterful, joyful pots for everything from tampons to tissues. They are absolutely beautiful and would undoubtedly cheer up any bathroom too, glorious!
And if you’re still after more to adorn their home… The Seasonal Reads: Some of my favourites include Slow Seasons , Winter in the Highlands , Nigel Slater’s A Thousand Feasts and Abundance .Delis and Hampers: Some of my favourite places for delicious deliveries include (but are very much not limited to) homemade and jarred specialities from The Newt, chocolate from Pump Street Bakery, granola and bagel essentials from Panzer’s, a pop into Corner Shop next to Toklas, wine from Lulu’s, Pollen Bakery spreads (i.e *the* croissant one), home and goods from Pophams Home (their new decorations are beautiful), the cookie tin from Violet Bakery, dried pasta from Lina Stores, and, well, anything from F&M– or alternatively a restaurant voucher: excellent London choices include The River Cafe Cafe, Cafe Cecilia, Luca and Brutto.
The 2025 Calendar: A kitchen essential (I will always favour an analog calendar and diary for everything) and unless it’s a family photo-fuelled Papier number, it’s got to be the dreamy seasonal eating offering from Mainly Breakfast (I adore her prints too!) which I will mention year after year.
Something to Treasure: If you’re after unique handmade pieces from the most talented artisans, from ceramics to art, I adore Liv and Dom, Ali Hewson, Tash Fry, Turn Shop, Lucy Page, EOT Ceramics and Ley-Lines.
Stockings & Linens: Patricia’s handmade home wears are truly beautiful, and her stockings are some of the most beautiful I’ve seen. Created by hand using folk-inspired fabric- she creates one of a kind pieces to be treasured.
Cards & Bits: For unique beautiful cards (and prints) I love the Printed Peanut, Cambridge Imprint, Hadley Paper Goods and The Hambledon. How gorgeous are these Milagros tags?!
I’ve also added links to previous years guides for interiors and home ideas (with some other picks below too)! 2018 / 2019 / 2020 / 2021 / 2023Come back tomorrow for Day 2!

A Week in Jersey
If I had to sum up the perfect summer holiday it would look a little bit like this:Lazy mornings spent cooking boiled eggs for my little boy and I, meandering drives to new places and shouting ‘I can see the sea!’ for the first, second and third times that day. Lunchtime picnics on the beach with foil wrapped sandwiches and crisps from home and post-lunch ice creams or cups of sugary tea- depending on your preference (or, of course both). Sticky fingers and collecting sand, rocks and shells in every bag, pocket or crease there is. Paddling, swimming and splashing in the sea and the joy of it not being absolutely Baltic. And! Seeing your toes beneath you in the sea! It’s that clear! And early evening drives home, as the sun becomes lower and lazier; with the important decision of should we just get a fish and chips on the way home? Save cooking?Last week my family and I got back from a week in Jersey. It’s not somewhere I knew a huge amount about before I went, but thanks to the magic power of my brother meeting a really wonderful human (a.k.a girlfriend) from there; being able to spend a week with her family was on the cards for this years summer holiday- and what a joy it was! I don’t think we could have asked for a lovelier setting, nicer company or a more beautiful place to explore over 7 days.
Being just over a 40 minute flight from London (or, if you have your sea legs 4 hours on a boat from the south coast); I think Jersey might be one of the most beautiful little gems you can travel to. With vast rural landscapes, lush winding country paths, roads with parades of powdery hydrangeas and agapanthus bursting out of beds. Plus, being an island, is also surrounded by some of the most gorgeous stretches of beaches I’ve seen. It’s a complete feast of a place. Not only does it do traditional beach holiday haven so well; with red Wall’s umbrellas flanking ice-cream shops and little coastal shops dotted with brightly coloured buckets and spades outside, but it also has flavours of France too; with mansard roofs and chocolate box houses all exhibiting elegant French names I can’t understand, but my goodness doesn’t everything sound more beautiful in French?

One of the biggest perks of an island like this, is that everything is so close. We hired a car and I don’t think there was anywhere that took us more than 15 minutes to get to (bearing in mind we stayed pretty centrally), but I loved the fact that we could be at the beach, a castle or the centre really quickly (which was also great with an under 5 too)! We packed in everything from rock-pooling, beach combing, castle hopping, swimming, antiquing and charity shopping and it was absolutely perfect. The beaches truly are the jewell in Jersey’s crown and whether you want to surf, sunbathe on enormous stretches of white sand, rock-pool, comb through pebbles and pottery or explore the caves and coves of hidden bays; there isn’t much you won’t find here.
Anyway! I thought I’d pop together a little list of the best places we visited in case you end up visiting, or fancy planning a little trip soon. I was also generously given some extra spots from you lovely lot, so I’ve added those in below too as places top of my next-time list!

Seeing & Splashing
Havre de Pas & The Lido – What a spot! We visited here as the sun was going down and oh my! What a spot for an early evening dip. The art deco tidal pool and swim club completely stole my heart (and had nothing to do with the fact there was ABBA was playing out loud nearby)….
St. Brelades Bay – If you know me, you’d have thought that the fact that this beach that has an actual Pizza Express on it would be the jewel in its crown but much to my own amazement; it’s natural beauty swept me away first! With peaceful waters and stretches of pale sand, it is truly beautiful.
St. Oeun’s Bay (Les Laveurs Car Park) – One of the things I was most taken by was the variety of coastline in Jersey, and spending an afternoon rock pooling at St. Ouen’s (spotting no less than an actual tiny lobster, crabs and many little fishes) was so peaceful with a picnic packed lunch. There’s also a lovely ice cream van often parked in the car park for a post-lunch Mr Whippy!
Elizabeth Castle – I didn’t know much about Jersey’s rich history until visiting, and a morning at Elizabeth Castle is a wonderful way of delving into the island’s past. Take a picnic and watch the world go by, and soak up the beautiful panoramic views from the sea.

Plémont Beach – Tucked below a dramatic cliff edge lies Plémont beach. A stunning cove dotted with hidden caves, stretches of sand peppered with pools and a cliff-view cafe with views across the bay. We spent an afternoon here and I could have happily come back every day; what a spot!
Bonne Nuit – This perfectly petite harbour is a gorgeous spot for an afternoon ice cream and some serious beach combing when the tide is out. I could have spent all afternoon scoping through the pebbles and rocks for small treasures.

Eating
La Braye – This was our first stop after we had landed, and what a spot for lunch! What a view! I cannot think of a more beautiful spot for lunch or a breakfast with a seriously impressive view.
La Braye, Gd Rte des Mielles, JE3 8FN, Jersey
Hank Marvin – A charming unassuming spot which boasts an epic breakfast and lunch menu which is absolutely delicious.
Rue de Haut de l’Orme, Jersey JE3 5FG, Jersey
The Potato Shack – A gorgeous spot for a contemporary breakfast (see the French toast to the left!) in the most rustic cosy setting. Go and visit the cows at the farm down the road afterwards!
Woodlands Farm, Rue de Maupertuis, JE2 3HG, Jersey

The Hungry Man – Whether you want a place to enjoy a cuppa and watch people swimming in Rozel bay, or just a place to cosy up on a rainy morning by the boats. Grab a sandwich at The Hungry Man because it may well be the best bacon bap I’ve ever had.
La Brecque du Nord Rozel JE, JE3 5BN, Jersey
The Yard – Tucked away in the centre of town, and perfect for a spot of lunch (inside or out!) if you’ve been mooching around the museum or shops.
The Weighbridge, Weighbridge Pl, JE2 3NG, Jersey

Shopping
Charity Shops – One thing Jersey does impressively well are charity shops. Not your average high street additions though; oh no! We’re talking warehouse style browsing with absolute treasures to be found. If you’re after an afternoon of thrifting and digging out gems take note of Durrell’s by the zoo, The Hospice Shop and Acorn.
St Aubin – I feel like wherever I go, I am on the hunt for a cracking car boot and/or antiques fair. Luckily for me, on the first weekend of the month Jersey has a gorgeous antiques fair in St Aubin; with stalls including antique French linens, knick-knacks, home wear and so much more. Thankfully a lot was cash only which curbed any impulse purchases, but well worth a pop by!

and for next time…
Petchi, Jersey Seafaris, El Tico, El Gato Gordo, Grand Hotel for cocktails, The Crab Shack, the back of the castle at Gorey for a swim and Awabi.

An Itinerary: 48 Hours in Deal
For my birthday this year I was set on doing one thing and one thing only (okay, maybe a couple of things- I do like to milk it, but I really wanted to do this one thing). And that, dear friends and readers- was a visit to the seaside! A couple of nights by the coast with my family; a selfish wish for annual leave to be spent in my company and an excuse to dust off my jelly shoes and march on down to one of my favourite British seaside towns. At this time of year it feels like there is nowhere more beautiful. To see the sea shimmering in harmony with the sunshine, to sit on the pebbled beach- arms around your knees and cardigans pulled over hands when it’s chilly. To lumber weighty bags of vinegary chips back in carrier bags for dinner, or to end up abandoning half of them on the beach as hungry seagulls threaten to gobble them up first. Towering, blousy hollyhocks outside pastel-hued cottages and smatterings of wild flowers lining coastal pathways. The first-dip-in-the-sea-squeals and sandy shoes, socks and toes. All before catching a sunset (if you’re lucky) or simply just being woken by the gossip of seagulls- it’s not peaceful, but it’s definitely not London traffic either.
And of course, one of my favourite places to head to is Deal. Just over an hour and a half from London, to me it is the perfect British seaside town. A perfect balance of quiet and calm (although, admittedly, if you go in the earlier part of the week a lot of things will be closed), quaint, colourful and plenty to do for a couple of nights outside of the city. A hum of tradition with a small arcade on the front with a little shop to buy buckets, spades and fishing nets at the entrance of the pier. As well as plenty of beautiful contemporary shops, cosy places to eat and windows to nosy in on during an afternoon meander.
Anyway! I thought I’d pop together a little itinerary of some of the things we got up to during our time there- you could absolutely stretch it out if you wanted, and if you take a car, there are so many other beautiful seaside towns a stones throw away too- magic!

Monday
Staying: Spindrift
I found the beautiful Spindrift on Air BnB, and it really was the perfect seaside bolthole. It had the most airy open plan kitchen and living area (which provided ample inspiration for our own renovation; the tiles! the plates!), so much attention to detail (I was fawning over the Fee Greening prints) and the most heavenly retro tiled bathroom and children’s bedroom (which made for perfect downtime reading with me and little A). Additionally, it was a stones throw away from everything we could have wanted and was very easy to find somewhere to park, which can sometimes be a pickle in busy seaside spots! What a gem!

Perched at the end of the brutalist pier is this cosy little lunch spot; which I truly believe would be just as beautiful on a rainy day (although the walk down may be a little sketchy) as it would with the sun leaking it. Not only that, but the food here was wonderful. Delicious cakes, breakfast eggs and offerings for little ones too.
Pier, Beach St, Deal CT14 6HY

Between lunch and some important birthday cake in the afternoon, we spent time exploring the town and enjoying some very quiet early-June beach time. Although a lot of things are shut on a Monday, we did manage a snoop in Smugglers Records which has an impressive selection (and beer on tap, if you’re that way inclined, too).

Dinner: Updown Farmhouse
When it comes to special occasion spots for dinner in and around Deal, I knew that the wonderful Rosie would be the person to ask for any spots not on my radar. With The Rose and Blue Pelican coming up (the Blue Pelican have a lovely private dining room too); it was Updown Farmhouse (where we’d gone a couple of years ago for my 30th) that we ended up booking a table at; and trust me when I say that this place is truly something else. I’ve actually written a post about it here previously; but having heard important intelligence that they’re opening an outdoor pool this summer (!!) this special spot is about to become even more breathtaking.
Updown Farmhouse, Updown Rd, Betteshanger, Deal CT14 0EF
Tuesday
Lunch: Deal Deli
For the perfect picnic lunch, featuring homemade bagels and very delicious posh crisps, make a note to make an early pitstop at Deal Deli. They also have shelves of lots of lovely labelled goods, which will definitely have you craving one-of-a-kind jam flavours and seasonings you’ll have to justify room in your suitcase for.
High St. Deal. CT14 6BE
Early-afternoon: A brilliant bike rideOne of my favourite things we did over the couple of days we spent in Deal was hire bicycles for a cycle along the coastal path. I’d walked past Hut 55 several times in the past (they also do yoga classes, seriously delicious cakes and homemade picnics too) but the thought of going on a family cycle with Arlo was something I was really looking forward to. With childrens seats and bikes on offer, it’s such a gorgeous way of exploring the town and getting to go a little further without taking the car. They’re amazing at recommending routes too, so if you need inspiration the people there were brilliant.
Deal Beach, Marine Road, CT14 7DN

Our initial plan was to get fish and chips from Middle Street Fish Bar who do amazing traditional fish and chips, but alas- they were closed! After asking the girls at Hut 55 for their best chippy suggestions- we collected dinner from Sea View, and it was wonderful. I can definitely see why the locals love it so much!
69 Beach St, Deal CT14 6HY

No visit to Deal is complete without popping into The Rose; whether that’s for breakfast, a late afternoon cuppa and cake or a pre-dinner cocktail. It’s the most beautifully designed hotel and restaraunt and every time I come away I’m completely inspired by their interiors and menu (just take a nosey at their Instagram, or this blog post for more)! They’ve also opened The Pelican Rooms for beachside treatments (which sound like the dream), and are the team behind The Blue Pelican, which is also meant to be delicious.
91 High St, Deal CT14 6ED

Before we left we naturally had to take advantage of a few of the beautiful shops being open, so popped into some of these gorgeous ones below:
Barkened: A wonderful gem of a shop covering gifts, womenswear and *the* cutest selection of items for your four-legged friend too.
Hoxton Store: A beautiful selection of clothes, candles, soaps and gifts.
Will and Yates: I fell in love with the curation, artwork and objects in this shop. The kind of shop you both want to move into and spend a lot of money in.
Mileage: I am *so* sad this shop was shut when we came, as we saw the most beautiful lights and painting in the window- but if you’re planning on doing some antiques shopping (or fancy some A* browsing) I can’t recommend a nosey here enough.
