Laura McKee is a sexual assault survivor, who has navigated near-death traumas with her daughters’ medical issues.

McKee began work in nonprofit administration in 2010 and is an All Poetry Gold Winner and Honorable Winner for her poems “Freedom,” “I Love Breathing,” and “Saturday.” She has three children, identical twin daughters, Jane and Claire, and son, Stephen.

Laura and her husband, Wayne reside in the Lowcountry of Charleston, SC with their dog, Luna, and a fat, happy ball python named Louie.
