Sherrill Joseph, a retired teacher turned multiple award-winning author, created The Botanic Hill Detectives Mysteries series for children ages 9-14 so she could stay connected with kids, who rock.

Joseph presents responsible, role-model detective characters who provide readers with a fun mystery to solve and something to learn while showing that being respectful and helpful citizens can be cool!

She lives in San Diego, California, in a 1928 Spanish Mission Revival bungalow. Her historic neighborhood, Nancy Drew, and lexical-gustatory synesthesia inspire her writing. The author promises many more adventures with her detectives to come.

I am a retired elementary school teacher and miss kids. Writing helps me give back to them by getting my books into their hands and hearts--I hope.

In addition, writing is a creative endeavor, so like painters, sculptors, musicians, and dancers, I can release my ideas into the world where I hope they will remain long after I'm gone. So it's also about building a legacy. (less)

Monsters Still Stalk Me: The Magic that Fuels my Mysteries

Hello, All Readers. Autumn Approaches!

Being a shy kid, I made good friends with books. But I was also lucky enough to grow up with fog-shrouded castles, moonlit forests, prowling creatures, and months where every night felt like Halloween. Please journey with me, and I will explain.

In the late 1950s, Universal Studios, Hollywood, began releasing for television their 1930s and ’40s horror classics
