Hello everyone,
I am Francine Rainey. I live in the United States in the Midwest where the winters are freezing, and the summers are boiling! And I remain, so I must be tenacious!

I love the written word. I love writing complex characters that reflect all of our humanity, as well as stories that make one feel, reflect, celebrate, and wonder. Stories that call us to our better selves, through humor, love, and awareness.

My first published book is a Pride and Prejudice variation. I believe that Jane Austen was a genius, who did not merely write romantic heroes, but stories that both celebrated and challenged her times. I hope to do the same.

The empty white space seems frighteningly large when no ink spots have been added. So, rather than call my fear, "writer's block", and allow that large white space to intimidate me, I write something, anything, for I realized that my "writer's block" stemmed from my particular fear of not writing the "perfect, most evocative, most outstanding prose, ever written!" When I relieved myself of the need to be perfect and trusted that I can write what is engaging and excellent and worth reading, I found a tool to conquer my writer's block.(less)
