Tom Waguespack was born in New Orleans in 1972. In fourth grade, he won a school-wide poetry contest at St. Lawrence the Martyr School. During his senior year at Archbishop Rummel High School, he won third place in an essay contest. Although he really wanted to be a sports journalist, he earned a B.S. degree in Mathematics at Tulane University and an M.Ed. degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of New Orleans.
While teaching at De La Salle High School, Tom began writing for Associated Content and then the Yahoo! Contributor Network. When Yahoo! discontinued this platform, he began writing his debut steampunk novel, Sigimmortal.
