Romance in Nigeria
Being a romance author in Nigeria can be a bit daunting, especially, for people who care about what other people say. My country is judgy, the people can be as mean as they are accommodating; I know this is applicable all over the world, but there is a special set of people who just enjoy criticizing the romance genre.
Someone once reviewed my book, ranting that it had too much explicit sex scenes and this was when I'd just started my writing journey and was a little bit jittery about sex scenes. I use to write just one sex scene, at most two, then. Other Nigerian writers have problems with this and it limits their writing flow.
I don't get why a person would read romance and not look forward to the sex scenes; I live for that sh*t!
Anyway, I'm no more afraid of writing sex scenes. In fact, these days they are more steamy.
