I am OVER THE MOON happy that yesterday, Dead Aware: A Zombie Journey got its first #1 best seller tag on Amazon in a young adult zombie category!

This was my debut, my first full length publication.
An idea I had for 15+ years and finally saw to fruition in 2019.
Month and months of writing, editing, learning, scrapping, tears, laughs and just time. A labor of love, yes. But still a labor.

Hitting that publish button? Getting my first review? My first sale? First bestseller tag? These are the kind of milestones every author wants to achieve and I am just blown away that just barely a month after release I have seen the success I have.

I don't want to make this a big self-fluffery post or anything, more just a WOW and expression of my appreciate to everyone who has read, or plans to read, any of my work. All those hours spent, the tears and time, it is all worth it to be able to share my words with the world. The fact that those words are (so far) very well received? Bonus,

Such a good week in the Dead Aware world!

Dead Aware: Vagrant Youth released on September 23 and so far, the response is great. I am super excited about this one. Also, I have just put out a new freebie short story with my newsletter called Dead Aware: Zombie Mom, which has been dubbed the cutest zombie story ever. (Contradictory, I know)

In any case, the words are flowing, the books are releasing... This is what joy feels like.

So it has been a bit of a crazy week over here. Only 8 days ago, my debut Dead Aware: A Zombie Journey came out. Since then, we haven't had any water in our house (water main broke, not getting fixed until next week), have been short staffed at my day job and my kid has had to stay home due to her pooping literally 8-10 times a day.
It has been quite the week.
Having said that, I have a bunch of stuff I am super happy about!

1. I figured out "the thing" that was holding me back in Dead Aware 2. There was just a connection I needed to make, and I had the epipheny I needed. Guessing that rough draft will be done within 2 weeks.

2. Got Vagrant Youth back, formatted and uploaded to the Zon. A few ARC's have gone out and I have a bunch more (also, message me if you are interested!) Three weeks until release!

3. I finished another short story I am working on, tentatively named Zombie Mom. I am thinking I will give this for free to NL subscribers and also put on the 'Zon for anyone who would rather buy outright

4. I am expanding For the Love of a Child! I decided that as much as I loved that ending, further revenge is needed. It is going to be GOOD.

So all in all, productive and good week! Hoping this weekend I can get another butt-load of words ton, sooo I should go do that.

So I have my debut novel coming up on August 23rd, which is book 1 in the Dead Aware series. For the last two weeks I have been doing all the release prep for that, as well as for a novella releasing a month later in the same world. Consequently, I am only half done book 2 in the series and need to seriously buckle down and improve that word count!
Currently sitting at 30k, let this blog post note my intentions to finish it by the end of the month!
