The Diana Garry Book Series

Diana Garry is a doctor of Archaeology at Bath Sulis University in the south-west of England. In her 30’s, she has long given up on the idea of romance in her life. She has one passion and that is her Archaeology. Diana has specialities in the Phoenicians, Celts and Romans.

The world is a straightforward and straightforward place, as is its history. Everybody knows and accepts that. Modern history started with the adoption of agriculture in around 9000 BCE in the fertile crescent around the middle east that today includes northern Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Syria and Iraq. The ancient Sumerians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Egyptians, and Phoenicians were all responsible for the development of civilisation as we know it.

People and events can be categorised as religious and irrational or logical and scientific. Everything can be explained by science. Or so she thought.

In the Diana Garry book series, we follow Diana as her rigid belief systems are challenged in every possible way.

In ‘The Huntress’ she must confront her belief that reincarnation is a new-age idea gleaned from the far east without any basis on truth. She will glimpse the past, but not in an era that she is comfortable with. And her relationships in her own life go in an unexpected, but welcome direction.

In ‘The Priestess’ a more mature and happier Diana is brought in on a dig that always had the possibility of challenging Columbus or the Vikings as the first visitors to the Americas from the Old World. But its ultimate conclusions could challenge her more fundamental tenets. Will Diana get through this in one piece?

In ‘The Heiress’ a simple rescue dig finds a more relaxed and open-minded Diana once more challenged by the history she knows and loves compared with the evidence and visions she sees in front of her.

In ‘The Prophetess’ the Greco-Roman era bursts into life for her as she yet again digs her trowel into a site dedicated to the moon goddess.

New Synopsis for The Huntress

Did Fairy Tales Ever Come True?
Doctor of Archaeology, Diana Garry, Director of the dig at the beautiful Renaissance Chateau of Chenonceau, was daydreaming as she sat behind her desk in one of the incident rooms.
She remembered back to her childhood when along with her two older sisters, their father would let them play unhindered in the grounds of their local castle at Corfe. They would take turns being the beautiful damsel in distress who was awaiting a dashing Knight in shining armour to whisk them away to his castle where he would turn out to be a dashing Prince and heir to the Kingdom.
But here in the grounds of the Chateau, a glimpse of the age of chivalry had been found in amongst the Roman remains. It shone a light on the life of Diane de Poitiers, a beautiful noblewoman who had turned the head of a young Prince who was himself the heir to the Kingdom of France.
“If only” muttered Diana to herself. She very much hoped that a handsome man would sweep her off of her feet now. She couldn’t see how that was going to happen. She was wed to her career and wandered from the dig site to dig site like a nomad. Romance hadn’t happened for her, and she somehow doubted that it ever had or ever would. But wouldn’t it be great to experience true love?
Oh to experience the thrills of such feelings, in the age of chivalry where Knights went away to fight distant wars and returned to the arms of their doting wives and girlfriends. The joie de vivre of l’amour. “Oh, yes, please!”
The voice of her mother echoed in her head “Be careful what you wish for, Diana!”
Book one of the Diana Garry series.

The Huntress - Labyrinth meets The Da Vinci Code and Sliding Doors with a touch of Jane Austen

A charming love story set in Renaissance France and the present-day with a glittering cast of Kings, Princes, Queens and Mistresses from the Tudors, The Holy Roman Emperor to the French Royal Court. A tale of a strong and powerful woman at a time when women held little or no power (officially at least) with echoes to the present day.

If you enjoyed the TV series Reign or hated it for its historical inaccuracies, you will love getting to know the real and highly remarkable Diane de Poitiers. Her Royal love triangle with King Henri II is the stuff of legend in France and was the subject of 1950s movie Diane starring a young Roger Moore and Lana Turner.

Past lives, intrigues, precious jewels and magnificent settings make this bodice-ripping time-travelling tale a must-have read for the hopeless romantic or history buff alike.

Author Amethyst Grays first novel is entered in this years Kindle Storyteller Awards.

Available now from selected outlets, Amazon Kindle and Amazon books.

The Huntress

Doctor Diana Garry is a bright and successful Archaeologist at Bath Sulis University's Department of Antiquities. A specialist in Celtic, Phoenician and Roman artefacts she is lead Archaeologist on a dig at a possible Roman Temple site in the grounds of a French chateau in the Loire valley.

Diane de Poitiers was a French noblewoman and a prominent courtier during the Renaissance. She gained notoriety as King Henry II's chief mistress and in this role she wielded much influence and power at the French Court, until Henry was mortally wounded in a tournament accident. Henry had worn her colours rather than those of his wife.

The chateau of Chenonceau was once owned by Diane and it is within the garden bearing her name that Diana Garry is digging.

Now fate threatens to bring their stories together and challenge Diana's views on death, love and rebirth...
