I've never been so excited about a new series as I am about this one. The plot bunny with the amnesia trope came to me via a reader and it took root in my head, refusing to go away.

Next thing I knew, a three-book series was in the works.

Who can believe it's August? Not this girl.

I was chatting to an author friend yesterday and we realized it had been exactly a month since RARE London. In fact, as I write this post, it's been a month since the signing day in London.

In the last few weeks I've been feeling a little like a failure. I've struggled with deadlines and doing everything that needs to be done but sometimes you have to stop and look back at what you've achieved.

When I travelled to London I'd just finished The Fiancé. As soon as I was back I got to work on a novella which I also finished at just over 20k words.

In between all this writing I managed another Island chapter, a couple of foreign translations releases, family visits and life stuff.

So what am I up to now?

Wow, it's been some journey for Lex and Emery. I loved spending time with him and the rest of the crew. Want to know who's next up?

As always, please remember that these chapters aren't edited. You'll find typos or misspellings and other weird and wonderful things.

The book has been through development edits which help me with the story. This means before the book is published there's a chance new chapters or scenes will be added and things taken out.

"Hey, what are you doing all the way out here?" Lex asked, snaking his arms around my waist and placing a kiss on the back of my neck.

"You mean all the way out six feet from the bed?"

"That's six feet too far. I can't cuddle if you're six feet away. I certainly can't do this from six feet away." He snaked his hand down my stomach, cupping my semi.

"You do present a very good point, however, we have a family breakfast to attend in approximately fifteen minutes and you're not dressed."

Oh the good old siblings. Does interrupting a newly reunited couple constitute torture? I think Lex agree it is.

Emery's moans as I sucked his cock to the back of my throat were downright dirty but also doing everything for me. My own relief was coming from rubbing against the bed sheets because I didn't have a spare hand to use on me.

Now when I was teasing Emery with the butt plug, caressing his balls and sucking him at the same time.

There was a lot to be said for spending the weekend in bed.

"Good almost afternoon boys. Cover up your unmentionables if you don't want them to get seen."

"Shit." I scrambled up the bed and pulled the covers up just in time for the bedroom door to open.

Signing up for a happy ever after. Does anyone else see all the hearts floating around?

My eyes were on the road but I kept glancing at Lex as I drove us out of my parents' place into the city.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

I smiled and reached out my hand. He took it in both of his, resting them on his lap. "Yeah."

"It's a huge thing, what you did back there with your mom."

My smile dropped a little. "I've been avoiding conflict for a long time. I should have asked all these questions as soon as I came back from the hospital but I guess I was dealing with the memory loss and it was easy having someone making all the decisions. I should have known that if my inconsequential questions were avoided that they were hiding something bigger."

"Do you really think she kept your phone after the accident?"

I shrugged. "I don't know. I want to move forward so I don't want to think about it. If she did it, it's done. She wouldn't have kept it as a momentum so I'm sure it's truly gone, if she ever had it."

"Where were you going with your suitcase when we arrived?"

How's this for a knight in shiny armor moment?

I ran to the door when the bell rang. I threw it open but there was nothing but disappointment on the other side.

"Don't look so happy to see us. I gave up perfectly good company to hang out with your bright mood."

I flipped Noah the bird and turned back to the living room.

"Rude, little bro."

"You don't have to be here. You know where the door is."

"Lex."

I raised my hand. "Look, all week I've acted like my life isn't falling apart. I've smiled, I've worked hard and I've even networked when all I wanted was to spend every second behind that door waiting for the man I'm in love with to knock. Give me a break and leave me alone."

At last! The conversation that should have happened weeks ago. But we know why Lex was afraid, right? He didn't want to risk losing Emery again. But will he now?

I'd debated with myself if I should come to see Lex but he was the only person who could give me the answers I needed. At least I hoped he was .

My heart thumped against the ribcage so hard I thought I was going to be sick.

Lex shifted in his seat as if that would help shift his thoughts into the right gear.

"I was so madly in love with you, Emery. We had our life planned out. You said you were moving in with me. The last day I saw you I gave you the ring. And then you were gone. You didn't answer your calls, you weren't at your apartment, then your phone stopped working."

"I lost my phone in the accident. My parents bought me a new one."

"I went to your place and your landlady said you'd moved. That destroyed me, Emery, so when I saw you again I was floored. I didn't believe you were real." He let out a nervous laugh. "You probably thought I was so weird when we met."

I thought you were stunning. That's what I wanted to say but the words never went past my lips.

There's no two ways about it. We're heading towards the end and the truths are coming out.

"She's been at this since yesterday," dad said.

"Has anyone tried to approach?" I asked.

Adam gasped. "You know the rules."

I rolled my eyes.

"Where's grandma?"

"She's in her room, too upset to come out," Noah said.

"What happened?"

Three shrugs followed my question.

"How does no one know why mom is covered in flour, baking a fifth loaf of bread–"

"Sixth. There's one in the oven," Noah said.

"Regardless. There are four cakes on the table, one of them looks like it's trying to escape–"

"Too much baking powder," dad said.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. My family were deranged.

It all starts so well but as we know someone's keeping a big secret. Emery has a new flashback. What will it reveal?

I couldn't remove the smile off my face. It was permanently etched onto my face. All photographs taken of me from here on would record this all-consuming energy that rushed through my veins.

Happiness didn't begin to describe it.

I answered the incoming call from my phone by pressing the button on my steering wheel.

"Hello?"

"Wow. I can smell your love pheromones from here," Ellie said.

I laughed. "Jealous?"

"Only that this stupid flu has put a stop to my own sexual activities while you're clearly getting some…and then some."

"I won't confirm or deny."
