Shortlisted for Quills Award!

I was thrilled to learn that my adventure, Daniel (Alsvith Books), has been shortlisted for the 2016 Young Quills Award for historical fiction - the shortlist being drawn up based on the reviews of students from participating schools. Run by the UK's Historical Association, it is in the older readers category, so why not give it a go? And if the hardback is a bit expensive (RRP £12.99) why not try the kindle edition at just £3.99.

Devon Life Reviews Daniel

A terrific review of Daniel by Devon Life appeared in June - and they reckon it's definitely one to take to the beach this summer - and they also thought the story would make a terrific TV series - I can only hope that somewhere out there there's a producer/director/commissioner who agrees! My Daniel Tour 2015 has finished its first phase of spring events - loads more to come in the autumn, all raising funds for Teenage Cancer Trust. You can help too - copies qualifying for a donation are also available direct from the distributor's on-line bookshop (CPI)for the terrific price of £7.99 plus p&p (compared to the RRP £12.99)- just go to my website and follow the 'buy now' link on the offer.

Books for all ages?

A year or two ago I wrote some articles for magazines with the aim of promoting YA literature to older readers - in my view there are lots of terrific books out there that older readers simply miss out on. Of my various books, I think my debut novel Resistance is well worth a look - although published by Random House as a YA novel, I never wrote it as such - in fact I simply had a story I wanted to tell. Some retailers recognise this and highlight that it 'isn't just for kids' - but I'd love to know what Goodreads readers think. Do you have YA books that you reckon should be read more widely? Let me know your views. Resistance by Craig Simpson
