I'm a writer and love reading or listening to books, doing a little cooking, and playing in the sunshine. I am the bestselling author of MILLICENT GLENN'S LAST WISH--my first novel that debuted when I was in my 60s. My second work of historical fiction (that has a contemporary timeline too!) is A MATTER OF HAPPINESS that publishes on November 8, 2022.

I was born in the suburbs of Cincinnati, mostly grew up in Indiana, spent a decade in metro-Detroit with my husband’s career, and now we reside outside of Atlanta. We’ve been married for forty-five years, and we feel blessed to be near our two sons and their families.

I graduated from Indiana University, where I studied marketing and English. I am also retired from an executive role at a nationa

My novel shifts between modern day and the early 1950s--the baby
boom era--in Cincinnati. While the story is fictional, the historical thread draws heavily from a secret tragedy long ago in my family. The modern narrative follows Millicent Glenn at the age of 90, when circumstances trigger her memories of events six decades before. I have long been inspired by novels that show elderly characters who are survivors, who look back on life's traumas through new eyes. Examples include Orphan Train, The House at Riverton, and Along the Infinite Sea. The structure of these books inspired me. And it seems readers also enjoy the interplay of past and present with The Nightingale, The Seven Wives of Evelyn Hugo, The Last Romantics. I could go on and on about stories of strong protagonists who we meet at two times in their lives, both young and old.(less)

Audiobook Update (Plus a Bonus)

Ahh . . . yes, I’ve been listening to audiobooks—either because it best fits my schedule (you know, I can multitask) or because the language is so beautiful I just love to hear it pass through my ears. BONUS: Linked below is also my first post about audiobooks from back in 2017, when I carried boxed CDs in my car!

So, here’s is a hodgepodge of titles I’ve tapped into lately:
