I sit in front of the computer with a bottle of water, a timer for writing sprints (usually a half hour), and I write about the research I've been doing, or about what I've been kicking around for a new idea/book/chapter/scene. In other words, I put in work time just as if I wasn't having a problem writing.

The idea is to continue to train myself to write, and these writer's block times are part of the territory, though they seldom come about now that I began to use this approach. Many authors do this, so I learned it from them.(less)
