I get lost in sunsets, find peace in gardens, need friends but balanced by solitude, believe in the power of words and hugs, and refuse to use pesticides (even with scorpions around) because I enjoy my backyard lizards and all the birds who feed on the crickets and bug critters.
Besides my writing, I do some ballroom dancing and hope to learn to paint with watercolors.

I'm a prior technical editor. My focus shifted to creative writing in 2007 when I tried my hand at NaNoWriMo. Some of my flash fiction, short fiction, and poetry can be found in a few print publications and online. My work is usually inspired by everyday life as it unfolds around me or some curious bit of science I become fascinated by.

It was about a suicide and a smart-ass advice columnist, who retreats emotionally when she learns about the suicide, and believes her words might been what pushed this young man to take his own life. Would have to use only the bare bones because I've honed my craft quite a bit since then (12 years ago). Not sure. Might continue on with characters in my current novel and work a murder into the mix.(less)

SLICE OF LIFE CLOSE-OUT TO 2023

Picture Wrapping up 2023 with a slice-of-life (mine) post. In late Spring I went shopping with a friend who needed to find a new, replacement, Lazy Boy recliner for her husband. We had a great time checking out the overwhelming selection in our local store. I was stunned by the different styles and also by the marvelous fabric selections for special orders. My friend so loved the comfort of the chair she Read more of this blog post »

Urrea is a master storyteller, and an imaginative weaver of the past, the present, the truth, and “expansions” of the truth. This is a book to savor. Enjoy the prose, the use of language, the hauntin

Lynn Thanks for the recommendations. Appreciate it. Both Secret Daughter and The Golden Sun sound like my kind of books.

Madeleine Hague Hello Lynn: That's nice that we're connected. I'm afraid I haven't been very active on Goodreads. The 2 book covers that appeared re: my profile are both rock and roll bios, and I think you already know, that this is a bit of an obsession with me. Other books however, that I have recently enjoyed are Peter Robinson mysteries (Bookcrosser Over-the-moon kindly sent me one earlier this year from Switzerland, and I really liked it) and if you haven't read "Secret Daughter" or "The Golden Sun" by Indo-Canadian Shilpi Somaya Gowda - they are excellent. Shelley also gave me "The Colour of Water: A Black Man's Tribute to His White Mother," by James McBride - FANTASTIC! xo
