Vince York is an author of literary fiction and self-described "pragmatic nihilist and cynical bastard", who is unmistakably more drawn to the world within him than the amusements of society and culture, seeming to find his greatest satisfaction in his own nebulous rendition of life that he remarks would "probably be burned for monster truck fuel if fully given away to the everyday man".

Critics have asserted that "there is more beer in his pen than ink". Still, York remains dedicated to his profuse time spent writing for an elusive audience while himself dodging "an entire generation that did not bother to understand the generation it replaced".
