Becoming Less Stupid
There are plenty of business books that tell you how to become smart and savvy about the world of business. These are written by people with great business acumen who flow through the business world easily.
But what about the rest of us who are driven by our passion for an idea but have no business training or background? My book, In Search of the Wild Tofurky, is the story of not how I became smart but more about the long process of becoming less stupid, mistake by mistake, day after day, year after year.
I think it's true that every entrepreneur, both the naturally savvy and the raw misfit, are at their most stupid point when starting out in business. You have an idea. You have a business plan. But what you don't know is how the market will accept your idea. Even the best idea takes some tweaking. And the longer you stay in the game, the more you keep hanging around, everyday you turn the key to your office in the morning, you shed a little stupidity. .
And there are always new, untrampled, pristine meadows of stupidity out there to explore no matter how long you live. I've given up the idea of becoming smart. But becoming a little less stupid everyday is an achievable goal and a thrilling, humbling experience.
