After writing a memoir, an agent suggested I write a thriller. So, I literally wrote down on the back of an envelope the things I know about:

The Police. I used to be police officer, finishing as a Detective Inspector at Moss Side, Manchester.

And in 2004 I climbed 6,812 metre Ama Dablam in the Everest foothills. As a result I have a great passion for Nepal, the incredible mountain scenery and its friendly people.

Beekeeper. As well as being a writer, I am a smallholder. Self-sufficient in fruit and vegetables, and keep chickens and bees.
