Indie April
Do you know about Indie April? During the month of April, readers on twitter are encouraged to read and support independently published authors. Indie authors can use the hashtag #IndieApril to talk about their books, novellas, short stories etc.
As an indie author myself, the support is encouraging and uplifting. Finding the writing community on Twitter has been a pleasant discovery. Someone once tweeted a gif of bugs bunny flexing to describe the feeling of being in the writing community. The image made me laugh however I agree with the sentiment.
If you are a budding writer and want to find like-minded support, I do encourage you to find the writing community. There you will find reviewers, people who spotlight indie books and authors, writing tips and lots of other information to hone your craft.
If you are a reader supporting #indieapril, you can help me by purchasing my book 😅

Interview for Indie Spotlight
I was interviewed for Indie spotlight, please check out the following blog: https://beforewegoblog.com/indiespotl... via @bethtabler
Thank you Beth for your support of Indie authors! It really means a lot!
It is because of supportive people like Beth, the writing community is such a wonderful place to be in as a newly self-published author. It is encouraging to know that people support and are willing to give new unknown writers a chance to showcase our work and read our books. It encourages me to improve my writing, knowing that I can reach out to readers with both a big heart and inquiring mind open to new worlds and ideas.
Thank you!

Indie book review: Mark of a Demon
For my second Indie book, I chose the paranormal romance short story, Mark of a Demon by Despoina Kemeridou.
What is Mark of a Demon about?
When Heather was born, everyone thought she would die due to her weak heart. Upon her mother’s callings, a demon showed up and saved her life by sharing his heart with hers. There was only one condition; she would live until the demon’s powers ran out. Not knowing anything about the mark she had on her chest from the day she remembers herself, she falls in love with the demon, marking the start of a forbidden love…
What happens when she finds out the secrets her aunt and the demon have been keeping deeply hidden from her?
There is a lot of story and heart in the pages of this novella. The story was fast-paced but I wished it had explored the love story of Nube and Heather a bit more. Their love story seemed a bit sudden. I was touched by the scene where Heather meets her mother again. Portrayal of family relationships, especially the one with Heather and her aunt, Sara, gives Mark of a Demon warmth, depth, and realism.
I hope that you consider Mark of a Demon for your next read. I will be back with a review of another Indie book for Indie April in my next blog post. Until then, stay safe! I wish you a great day.
Thank you for reading 😊

Indie April: Emma and the Minotaur
Here is another great book for Indie April: Emma and the Minotaur (World of Light Book 1) by Jon Herrera.
This is a middle-grade fantasy with beautiful imagery and story. (I think there is a new cover now, but this is the version I have.)
What is it about? Here is the blurb:
Emma Wilkins must face the monster in the woods for the fate of the world. An invasion is coming. Deep in the shadows of Glenridge Forest, creatures of myth and legend are returning. They gather and wait for a day soon to come. A day when they will be unleashed upon the planet.
Daydreamer Emma Wilkins is eleven years old and lives on Belle Street in the city of Saint Martin. All Emma wants is a friend. She finds one in Jake Milligan, a new boy in town whose father has gone missing. Together, they embark on a mission to find him. During her adventure, Emma discovers that all stories are true. All legends are real. The monsters of nightmare exist.
She learns about a power greater still, one who watches and waits, preparing for the day when the world is ready for his return. On her way to an impossible confrontation, Emma must conquer her fears and learn how to defeat the monster in the woods. At stake are the fates of those she cares about most and that of the entire world.
I hope that I enticed you to give this great story a read.
Remember to support a Indie author this Indie April (and share your love with everyone! 😀)
Thank you for reading!

Indie April: Splitter
Today I will feature a horror book for Indie April: Splitter by Kaitlyn Keller.
I was captivated by the great cover, and the chilling premise of the story.
What is Splitter about?
When twenty-three-year-old Mackenzie Foster wakes up in Kurat Manor to find herself captive to a sadistic stranger, she doesn’t panic or cower in a corner. Instead, using her knowledge of horror video games, she comes up with a plan and prepares for the worst. But with insane, faceless creatures lurking the halls, notes detailing the experiments taking place inside, and a timid school teacher who’s more of a hindrance than a help, surviving the night might be more than she’s capable of.
Intrigued? I hope that you pick up this heart-racing book for your next read.
Happy reading! I have a few more books to feature for Indie April.
Stay tuned!

Indie April: Darling, There are Wolves in the Woods
It’s Indie April!
I have another great indie book for you. The book is a dark faerie tale/dark fantasy: Darling, There are Wolves in the Woods by L. V. Russell. It is book one of the Wicked Woods chronicles.
What is the story about?
Here’s the blurb:
The woods are dark and wicked, and perhaps some things would be better off staying lost…Teya Jenkins is ten years old when her sister is taken. Niven is never found, because no one knows where to look. No one but Teya that is, who heard the whispers of the trees and saw the beautiful creatures that dwelled in the shadows. It is only after another tragedy, years later, that Teya finally dares to enter the forest that haunts her dreams, determined to bring home her sister and mend the fractured remains of her family. But someone lingers in the shadows, tempting her away with veiled promises of the thing she’s always longed for….to belong somewhere.
Tangled up in the lives of the creatures that stole her sister, Teya risks everything to bring Niven home. In a world of extraordinary monsters, Teya finds herself fighting for not only her life, and for her sister, but also for her heart.
April is almost coming to an end. I have one more book left to highlight for Indie April. It is going to be a thriller, so stay tuned!
In the meanwhile: Happy Reading! 📚

Indie April: Walking on Thin Ice by Robert Burns
Today is the last day of April and I have one more book for Indie April. Walking on Thin Ice is a thriller written by Robert Burns.
What is the story about?
Junior reporter Rachel Drucker, desperate to break a big story, is drawn to the disappearance of five-year-old Julia Brown 20 years earlier. No arrests were ever made, a body was never found, and no new leads have surfaced in over a decade. The trail had gone cold.
Not only does the case remain unsolved, but Rachel’s father and the lead investigator in the case, Detective Ted Drucker, died full of remorse unable to find Julia. The case became more than just a job to him; it was an obsession that directly led to his death.
Rachel becomes haunted by the possibilities of what could have happened to Julia. At the same time, her father has started to appear in her dreams. She has so many questions surrounding why this case remains unsolved.
With the help of Ted’s detailed case file and expertise, can she find justice for Julia Brown? Or is she also doomed to let this obsession get the best of her and meet the same fate as her father?
I hope that you pick this great book for your next read. I hope that you enjoyed my selection of books for indie April this year. I hope to continue this tradition every year.
Remember to support your favorite Indie author by reviewing their books, or by sharing book recommendations with your friends and family.
Happy reading!
