A Deeper Well – Book Review

We have had the opportunity to read the pre-release novel “A Deeper Well” by author Jill Eileen Smith.

It is a story about the Samaritan woman at the well that Jesus met as she came to the well in the heat of the day in order to avoid the ire of the people of the town (see in John 4). There, she finds someone who knows her better than she knows herself, one who offers her living water, forgiveness, restoration and an everlasting love.

Jill Eileen Smith takes this unnamed biblical character and g...

Easy Wassail Recipe

This wassail recipe is a part of Christmas for as long as we can remember. Mom and dad would bundle us up and take us to the Mansker’s Station for a historical reenactment of early colonial American Christmas celebrations every year.  We would wear our coats, mittens and warm hats and walk among the recreated cabins that dotted the inside of the fort and each cabin taught us a lesson on colonial life, taught us carols by candlelight as we huddled by the warm fireplace holding grandma or mom’s h...

Homemade Italian Salad Dressing Mix

This dry Italian seasoning mix is so delicious. It, of course, makes a wonderful Italian salad dressing in just a couple of minutes, but it is also excellent as a seasoning for meat. I love to use it on chicken to make the most delicious meal. Sprinkle the chicken with the seasoning mix and throw it in the oven or on the grill. It is really fantastic!

You Were Made To Be Brave

Every generation of believers has faced moments when courage was required—times when the choice was clear: stand boldly for God or shrink back into silence. Our culture often pressures us to blend in, to keep our faith private, or to soften our convictions. Yet the Bible reminds us over and over that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 NIV). You were made to be brave. Not by accident, not by coincidence, but by design. God placed His Spir...

Esther In The Bible: Lessons on Courage, Purpose & Faith

The story of Esther in the Bible is one of the most powerful accounts of courage, faith, and God’s unseen hand at work. Set in the Persian Empire during a time when the Jewish people lived in exile, Esther’s life shows us how God can raise up an ordinary person to do extraordinary things. Though she began as Hadassah, an orphaned Jewish girl, Esther was placed in a position of influence as queen—yet her greatest impact came not from her crown, but from her willingness to risk everything to save ...

Stephen in the Bible: Lessons from the First Christian Martyr

When we think about great men and women of faith, our minds often go to Abraham, Moses, or Paul. Yet tucked within the early pages of Acts is the powerful story of Stephen in the Bible, a man described as “full of faith and the Holy Spirit.” His life was brief, but his impact has echoed through the centuries. Stephen’s courage, devotion, and unwavering faith offer us timeless lessons for following Christ—especially in times of adversity.

The story of Stephen in the BIble reminds us that living a ...

Sarah in the Bible: Lessons on Faith, Waiting, and God’s Promises

Sarah in the Bible is one of the most relatable women we meet in Scripture. Her journey is not one of flawless faith, but of wrestling with doubt, waiting through disappointment, and learning—sometimes the hard way—that God’s promises never fail. From the ache of barrenness to the laughter of answered prayer, her life shows us what it means to trust God when His timing feels impossibly slow.

What I love most about Sarah’s story is how human she is. She made mistakes, tried to take matters into he...
