To Nigel RIP

My friend Nigel died recently. I met him when I was at school, and learning about jazz. He was a jazz fan of many years, so he introduced me to new areas of jazz.
Apart from listening to his records, we went to jazz gigs of course, also to the cinema, and just out for a drink.
Unfortunately he moved away before I left school, but he left a deep impression on me. RIP Nigel.

I was going to write a poem, but somehow it would not work. So I've gone back to trusty prose.

My new poem

I crawl into bed,
Turn out the light,
And fall into deep sleep,
Mother Nature's gift.
Soon I sense a dream commencing,
A cast of characters collects.
A surreal group: dead people,
A person who combines two different people,
Someone who shifts from man to woman.
And bizzare situations:
I walk along a swollen river,
I suddenly adopt a German accent,
I am climbing a tall tower.
What does it all mean?
I have no clue.
But strange feelings envelope me.
