Percy Bysshe Shelley
“A man, to be greatly good, must imagine intensely and comprehensively; he must put himself in the place of another and many others; the pains and pleasures of his species must become his own. The great instrument of moral good is the imagination.”
Percy Bysshe Shelley, A Defence of Poetry and Other Essays

William Faulkner
“In writing, you must kill all your darlings.”
William Faulkner

Roland Smith
“a good writer should draw the reader in by starting in the middle of the story with a hook, then go back and fill in what happened before the hook. Once you have the reader hooked, you can write whatever you want as you slowly reel them in.”
Roland Smith, Peak

Dr. Seuss
“Adults are just obsolete children and the hell with them.”
Dr. Seuss

Mark Twain
“′Classic′ - a book which people praise and don't read.”
Mark Twain

Katy Oh, drat, you're probably the 5th person I heard was there too late to meet up with! Did you see Jim Butcher? We were there very early and since I was in a wheelchair and was right at the front of the disability services line, I was able to sit right in front, it was awesome! If you follow the link in my profile to my blog, I've written up a report with mentions of all the authors I met, all the people I saw, and general thoughts on it - go check it out! Feel free to comment about your experiences, too!

Katy Hi, neighbor! Always happy to meet other readers, especially who live relatively nearby! I was up in the ATL area all weekend for Dragon*Con, too bad we didn't meet sooner!

Just a quick tip, I notice you are replying to profile comments here; the person to whom you are replying will not receive a notification to know you have responded. To make sure they see your response, you should instead go and make the return comment on their profile. Took me almost a year and a half to figure that out, so I like to pass the info along!

Welcome to Goodreads; let me know if I can help you find your way around!

J.L. No big. I'm just happy to be creating right now. I promised myself if I can just get a few good readers. I'll be content ... for now. LOL ;-)

Thanks for the info though. I'm having fun already.

Kevis Hendrickson Sorry about the delay, Joseph. For some reason, Goodreads doesn't notify other members when someone replies from their profile. If I hadn't remembered to check back, I'd still be in the dark. Just want to say that there's definitely a learning curve trying to navigate the ins and outs of the publishing world. But it's a thrill to see other people get a kick out of reading your work and that makes it all worthwhile. Cheers.

Cool. Yeah I'm hoping to get my novel out there soon. But I think it's great to meet people who have the dual-ability. ;-) Let me know when you're ready to start talking filmmaking 'cause hopefully I can get you on the right track.

Kevis Hendrickson Hi Joseph. Thanks for the friend-vite. Great to meet a filmmaker among the ranks of authors on this site. Looking forward to checking out your work.
