It's frustrating and annoying, especially when you know there's some good stuff hidden in your head, behind that block...
So when that happens I just call my friends and family (only the close ones) and talk about the story. I ask for their opinion about the plot, and basically doing some brainstorming which always helps.
After that I just force myself to get back to my laptop and continue to write the next chapter. Usually this routine helps :-) (less)

So in my case the answer is simple - the best thing about being a writer is knowing that others are enjoying the story at least like you :-)
