After four decades of practicing law and founding my own firm, I wrote Naked on the Highway a memoir of Woodstock, raising three daughters, running a bookstore, and the one question that changed everything: “Can you help me go to college?”

That “yes” grew into the Wells Mountain Initiative, which has now funded over 900 scholars (soon 1,000) from 55 countries. My next book, Dream, Plan, Do!, tells that story.

I’ve been married to my gorgeous blonde, Carol, for more than 50 years. We live in Vermont and the Virgin Islands, and our greatest joy is watching our kids, grandkids, and WMI scholars ...more
