Elizabeth (Elsie) Grant writes historical fiction set in the early nineteenth century. Her first novel, An Independent Heart, is available at BoD, Amazon, and in bookstores near you. All of Us Murderers by K.J. Charles
"Deliciously entertaining thriller with a wickedly gothic flavour and an M/M romance strand that really works - even for people like me who aren’t overly keen on romance fiction. It’s November 1904, Zebedee aka Zeb Wyckham arrives at the imposing Lack" Read more of this review »
The Montesoro Legacy by Stella Riley
"A satisfying end to the Brandon Brothers series; a damsel in distress, her gallant rescuer, a fake betrothal, and a HEA. I couldn't ask for more."
Anna and Her Daughters by D.E. Stevenson
"I seem to have read this before but can’t remember when.

Anna Harcourt is unexpectedly widowed and left with three grown-up daughters and little money. She decides to leave London and return to her native village in Scotland, much to the disappointmen" Read more of this review »

“Don't you think, monsieur, that woods are like churches?”
Alexandre Dumas, The Three Musketeers

Julian Barnes
“One feeling at least grows stronger in me with each year that passes—a longing to see the cranes. At this time of year I stand on a hill and watch the sky. Today they did not come. There were only wild geese. Geese would be beautiful if cranes did not exist.”
Julian Barnes, The Lemon Table

Dorothy L. Sayers
“And then, at night, the lit lamp and the drawn curtain, with the flutter of the turned page and soft scrape of pen on paper the only sounds to break the silence between quarter- and quarter-chime.”
Dorothy L. Sayers, Gaudy Night

Dorothy L. Sayers
“I say--I've thought of a good plot for a detective story."
"Really?"
"Top--hole. You know, the sort that people bring out and say 'I've often thought of doing it myself, if only I could find time to sit down and write it.' I gather that sitting down is all that is necessary for producing masterpieces.”
Dorothy L. Sayers, Strong Poison
