Paria Hassouri is an author, pediatrician, and mother of three young adults. She is also a marathoner, activist, wine enthusiast (bold reds preferred), storyteller, carbohydrate lover, avid reader (Jane Austen meet Cheryl Strayed), feminist, validator, and shoe addict--not necessarily in that order. A proud Iranian-American, she spent most of her formative years in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Her personal essays have been published in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Huffington Post, Women's Running Magazine, Kevin MD, and Grown and Flown. 4.5 stars. Complicated adult relationships, both sibling relationships and romantic ones. Loved parts of it but it was slow at points keeping it from being 5 stars. Simple language that’s not easy to write.
