August Hill was born outside of Toronto, Canada, and now spends his time between Vancouver and the islands of the Salish Sea. As a child he ate up his father’s extensive library in secret and by the age of eight had written an epic novel of such great heights it stirred one of the good teachers to send him off to various writing conferences. He chose larger books to sit upon so as to not seem conspicuous to the other attendees.

Hill excelled in journalism school writing solely about the things he most obsessed over in life, attaining an MBA to build businesses around those same things thereafter. While different authors are surely motivated by different things, I admit I’m moved by simply sharing the laughter and vibes I feel when I create a world full of scoundrels. I feel the need to share all the magical moments that I got to have when I combined this-or-that strange combination of words. It is definitely selfish, however, because damned if it doesn’t bring a smile to my face to get a reaction.(less)

It's a fish out of water, almost literally, where transitioning to a sm…moreI’m having a blast writing my next novel The Sauna of Knowledge at the moment. It's a fish out of water, almost literally, where transitioning to a small seaside fishing town becomes an absolutely hilarious - and treacherous – endeavour. Where a divorcee club combats the golfing community; industrial fishermen confront surfing culture; geriatrics explore murderous rage, and all other manner of plotting and secrecy unfolds in the local pubs and saunas around the fledgling town. It's a sweaty romp with dozens of creeps that exist in the same world as The Sushi Prophecies. (less)
