Jennifer Wake, the 2023 AFI Fort Belvoir Spouse of the Year, is an Army wife, mother of 3 grown children, teacher, and writer. She is a chemistry/physics teacher by trade, an Accredited Financial Counselor by interest, and a writer/speaker of God’s Word by His calling. She is married to an Army Chaplain and has served in chapels in various locations, from Germany to the Mojave Desert. Over the past 25 years, she has made a home for the Wakes 14 times. God has called her to mentor military spouses, especially chaplain spouses who serve sacrificially. Her various passions include speaking to military women, writing books and blogs, developing Bible training material, networking with women all over the Army, and professional quilting. She is currently volunteering with the Protestant Women of the Chapel (PWOC) at Fort Belvoir. She is a member of the Spiritual Development Team for Planting Roots, a ministry for military women by military women. She enjoys traveling to speak, teach, and train. She spends her free time writing, quilting, and leading Bible studies online. Her current large writing project is “Stones of Remembrance: How to Share God’s Faithfulness to all generations.” In 2021, she published “Call Signs: How Knowing God’s Character Empowers Women to Accomplish His Mission” and is in the process of publishing “Call Sign Jehovah: How Knowing the Facets of God’s Character Reminds Women of Their Mission.” She has written blogs for her website, Planting Roots, and East Coast Journal, and articles for Legacy Magazine and militaryspouse.com. She has spoken about Advent, the Royal Ladies in Christ’s Lineage, fasting, and the names of God. Her passions include writing books and blogs, developing Bible training materials, and networking with women in the military. She is working with the IGNITE team to train PWOC boards across the world. You can find her traveling to visit her three adult children or in her quilting room in Bristow, VA. Stomping My Feet at God

While dress shopping with my daughter, a child’s temper tantrum prompted me to share that I was stomping my feet at God. “I am frustrated with God. He keeps pushing me to write more, but He won’t give me places to speak. I love talking about the names of God, His faithfulness, Advent, or about the spiritual disciplines.”
