Jared Hammer is a Los Angeles native and a lover of all things to do with air and space and adventure. His first novel, The Alpine Insurrection, was published back in April 2020, and since that time he has expanded his work to include over a dozen award-winning speculative fiction short stories, novellas, and novels. He is an explorer and scientist at heart, attributes that led him to his day job as a Guardian in the United States Space Force, but in his free time he enjoys doing most anything outdoors—hiking, kayaking, biking, surfing—just as long as he’s there with his wife and kids. Really good book, and honestly I'd probably still recommend it, but about a third to halfway through it gets shockingly gruesome. I wouldn't say the level of gore was necessary and it left a bad taste in my mouth, but it was otherwise a brilliant sto ...more
