I wanted to let you know it is ready. My novel was published today Dec 1, 2021, in all formats; eBook, Paperback, Hardcover, and Audiobook

Here are a few stats

4 Months – Time to Write87,417 – Words362 Pages – Print Version9 hours 20 mins – Length of Audiobook37 Beta Readers8 Editorial Passes6 Cover Versions28  True Events I used in the book

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing and researching it for you.

The idea for this book came from my curiosity around the debate, is it nature, or is it nurture? Are serial killers born? or made? I’ve been close to the evolution of genetic research for the last twenty years. If we knew the genetic makeup of a person (we can) and the environmental triggers (we do) can we not better understand who might kill, and maybe more important, how to prevent it?

The plot evolved as I also thought about the very real diagnosis of Dissociative Identity Disorder, previously called Multiple Personality Disorder. Who are the alternate personalities? They often have different skills, different voices, and different ages.  Where did they come from?

I fused these two ideas, then added in some characters seeking justice, and some with altruistic intentions with unpredictable outcomes. I continue to wonder if this might be true.  It is fiction, but there is enough fact that might make you think the same thing. Is this true? It might be, I’m not sure myself.

Fear The Panopticon – Promo Video

In 1979, President Carter gave a speech on television, to a national audience, about the dangers of consumption and indulgence.  He called it a warning.  The message is relevant today.

Crime Traveler – New Cover!

Crime Traveler – Release Date – 12/01/2021

This is the third book in my Justified Series. Here is the new book cover.

Joyce Davenport is inspired to never let a killer go free. She follows a trail of cold cases from a century old, to one that occurred just last month. There is evidence consistent amongst the murders, she doesn’t yet know how that is possible. The location of decades-old evidence is being shared with her, only something the killer would know. She is surprised at what she learns.

Published! – Fear The Panopticon

Dear Reader,

I wanted to let you know it is ready. My novel was published today July 1, 2021, in all formats; eBook, Print, and Audio, and in all marketplaces; Amazon, Google, iTunes, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo.

Here are a few stats

5 Months – Time to Write120,830 – Words450 Pages – Print Version13 hours 12 mins – Length of Audiobook22 Beta Readers6 Editorial Passes9 Cover Versions32  True Events I used in the book

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing and researching it for you.

The plot scares me.  I have been so immersed in it the last few months, it feels real to me.  I learned so much about how our bodies process fear and how we handle passive fear so differently than active fear.  I also learned more than I ever wanted to know about government surveillance and hacking.

Apple is Less Rotten

Hello Common Sense Readers,

This is good news, I think. Apple is doing something. They are now running videos on TV that let you know about the new tracking blocking features on iPhones.  You can watch it on YouTube. (link below).  It is worth it.

In the last three years of research on my book, I have found two things to be true.

Nobody cares about privacy, online or not.Once they know the depth of tracking, they care.

Where the allowance of the data collection starts is the terms of service we click on to download the app faster. I do it too.  We say OK to tracking because we don’t care at that moment.

What Apple has done, is they allow you to turn things off.

However you might feel on the topic of privacy right now; apathetic, angry, relieved, confused, etc.  You now have a choice.  And when people have a choice, they will always choose, “don’t track me.”

Like you, I don’t do anything wrong and my life is pretty boring. Who would want to watch, listen or follow me? However, if it’s easy to say ‘no’, we all would do that.

Apple has taken the first step to allow us to say ‘no’ and we are, all of us. According to analysis by Flurry, just 4% of U.S. users allow apps to track them when given a choice. Kinda ironic they are tracking people who say no to tracking. 🙁

I hope you find this valuable. If not, no problem, if you got this in email, you can unsubscribe in the link below.  I’ll miss sharing what I learn, come back anytime.

Let me know what you think either by email reply or contact me here.

Sincerely,

Dave

Just Released: New Cover Design / Fear The Panopticon

Hi Readers,

Just Released: The new cover to my upcoming novel, Fear The Panopticon. Publish date is July 1, 2021.

The updated cover to Fear The Panopticon is here!  I hope you like it. In sharing it with friends and family, I have found it provokes a lot of emotion. Please share your feedback with me, it’s always welcome.

In writing this book (so far), it worries me. The plot scares me. I’m not sure if it is true or not. It feels true to me. If you know my writing, you know that I intertwine history you know, with a story that might be true.  As I researched the different elements, Nazi experiments, CIA influence in American culture, and the technology surveillance since the 1950’s, I find myself looking over my shoulder more often and wondering, is this true?

Sincerely,

Dave

Who is Joyce Davenport – Character Back Story

Joyce Davenport

Joyce is a support character in my upcoming novel, Fear The Panopticon. She is a crime scene investigator. Joyce is always prepared. She knows how to look, knows how to listen. She can see and hear what others can’t. This makes her valuable to the FBI, CIA and her friend Frank Garcia, the deputy chief o the U.S. Capitol Police.

Joyce first appeared in my short story called Careful What You Wish For.  She was working in the morgue as a medical examiner. Her friend had been killed by her abusive husband, and Joyce came from the big city to her hometown to investigate what happened.  The story is dark, I had to put a disclaimer, a warning in the beginning for anyone sensitive to abuse and trauma

The trilogy of my short stories, to include Careful What You Wish For is available for free. They are dark, told from the perspective of the Day After. Stories you know, but what happened next. The end reveals the truth. If you are getting this email, you might have already downloaded it.  But if you didn’t, here is the download to any digital device.

I think Joyce is amazing. She is what we would all want to be working at a crime scene, especially if it was us or a loved one. She cares about the victim. She has seen thousands of clues, many she had to interpret herself from the bodies of the dead. What happened? Murdered? maybe. Joyce is not only great at what she does, but she is only inspired by the next puzzle to solve. She continues to do what she thinks is right.

She is a friend of many, but her mentor, is Frank Garcia. A character in Fear The Panopticon. Joyce uncovers things others don’t.

Joyce is the MAIN character in my upcoming novel, coming out on December 1st. It is called Crime Traveler.  She’ll be tested for sure to know the difference between Justice and Revenge.

Joyce is based on my middle daughter, who is a real world crime scene investigator. She is relentless, detailed and the kind of person I would want working on my own crime scene. You would too.

If you have questions about Joyce, reply to this email, I’ll answer what I can without spoiling it for you.

Sincerely,

Dave

New Book Cover – Accidental Coincidence

Hello Readers.  A pretty drastic change from our original cover.  We continue to update the cover based on what we learn about what makes a great cover.  The cover is designed to say ‘thriller’, indicate a female lead and religious implications.  Feedback always welcome.

EFF Surveillance Roundtable – Edward Snowden

I had the opportunity to attend this live. It was thought provoking. I was happy to meet the key members of the EFF.

You can listen to the audio while you work. There is nothing specific on the video other than a few graphs.

Download Free Preview – [FEAR.THE.PANOPTICON]

Thank you for your interest in my FREE PREVIEW to my upcoming book Fear The Panopticon, Release Date is 07.01.21.

Click here to Play The Warning and Get Access to the Free Download.

In this [PREVIEW], I will review what I learned about the history and current state of government surveillance. I was shocked at the depth of surveillance. I was even more shocked at the apathetic way we all have come to accept it.

I will footnote everything I can so you can learn more. Be careful, the rabbit hole goes deep. This is a sensitive topic for me, and likely for you too. I am a first generation American and a combat veteran. The pride for my country, our rights and freedom run deep inside me. I feel them every day. I work hard to ‘think’ so I can see what I can’t feel. I want to share this with you, I hope you find it valuable. I did.

Sincerely,

David
