My new book, Muscles and Muffins
Muscles and MuffinsHi Friends,
I want to announce that I have a new book out called Muscles and Muffins (Breadwick Tales), and it is a cozy fantasy. Dig that, I never thought I'd write one, but I had to, as it's set in a pocket realm where all sorts of queer and quirky characters seek out this whimsical world.
There is a vampire; there is always a vampire present in my books, it seems. ;) I don't know how to "add" Muscles and Muffins to my author's list, so I hope you'd seek it out, and when you do read it, that it becomes a cozy way to unwind at night and go into that good slumber. There are 20 chapters, and 380 to 400+ pages depending on whether you enjoy it in Print or in digital form.
Oh, wait! I see a "add book" here in the blog....I will do that!
I am now at Substack! Sharing character designs and backstory. Drawing and designing cozy fantasy is a bit easier than cyberpunk environments and a supernatural and mechanical 1880s London. My Substack

A fireside reading of Dark Victorian: RISEN
Hello Friends,
I apologize for not updating here. I've been doing so bi-weekly at my Patreon. But I wanted to let everyone know about a live reading, today, by Louvie Tucker. He'll be reading aloud the original Dark Victorian: RISEN on his Twitch channel! (Saturday at 8pm EST, 5pm PST).
My thanks to Emi Thompson ( author of the Clockwork Twist series) for connecting us. Louvie reads from a paper book and also does voices. 'Twill be a fun tyme! 🎩💀📚
In other news, I am returning to The Dark Victorian series finally by writing a short story, The Art Club. I illustrated it first to understand the story better, and you can view the artwork, done as a 11x17 spread in my Patreon Shop.
In progress at the Patreon are also 2 Darquepunk novels with Nico and Bear, plus the continuation of Dark Victorian: Medusa, TAUR, with Euryale and Elvie. I posted quite a few Minoan research essays at (you guess it) my Patreon.
It's a lot! But eventually, there will be books. :)
All my very best,
~Elizabeth

Patreon update :)
Hello Friends,
Sorry I haven't posted to Goodreads in years. I finally updated my Patreon with the latest for the Darquepunk novel-in-progress, Hellcat and Kitten, and for another, Die Furious. I've a lot of Nico and Bear on my mind! I wish I could focus entirely on my novels, but I'm still keeping the lights on by working in animation. A slew of audio books keep me company at the drawing table. When I stop adding books to my 'read' pile here, that's when you know I'm free to write! :D
If you visit my Patreon, you can also Follow me there (for free!). It may be the best way to keep updated on what I do. :) my Patreon
Hoping all's well with everyone during these interesting times. Keep safe!

Patreon Update! VIP Red patrons get Hellcat and Kitten, Chapter Four
Hello Friends,
A Real update for patrons at VIP Red level and up, finally!
to My Patreon
I've been working a 2D animation gig since August, one with several rapid projects. Heck, when you see my Goodreads activity light up with "books read," that's me going through audio books borrowed from Overdrive, which help me get through my drawing count.
But when there's a brief lull between shots, I've been pecking at several stories in progress. Currently, I'm researching and hopping around in manuscripts, so producing a finished chapter has been a small feat this time around.
The animation work pays the bills, but my stories are where I want to be.
Enjoy the update!
love, Elizabeth

Patreon Update! Free Nico & Bear isometic illustration
Hello Friends!
Head to here: my Patreon
Right/click to download! It's a public post!
What is an isometric illustratioin, you may ask? It's a style of "perspective" drawing that one sees often in gaming. I really wanted to try it out and chose Nico's room at the YOBA as that would be simpler to draw than the Dark Victorian's Vesta (which I someday hope to do). Or Art's room at the Vesta, for example. Victorian interior design is not easy!
But I am super-digressing. At my Patreon post, I talk about Bloody Nike, the next book after Monster Stalker in the Darquepunk series. Go to the Patreon link and enjoy!
love,
~Elizabeth

The Summer Romance Bingo from the Ripped Bodice :D
Friends!
I want to let you know about the Ripped Bodice's Summer Romance Bingo. You can download it and the rules HERE
The Ripped Bodice is an LA brick and mortar run by two sisters. They sell romances of all variety/diversity as well as run workshops and events. I like their newsletters. :D
Now I don't read lots of different romance genres myself, and I want my firemen to be firewomen. I'm sure someone's written F/F firefighter romances, yes? :D
Bingo is fun! I got the idea to have Nico play bingo games in Darqueworld from a comics convention bingo by Paige One Comics (spot the cosplay, steampunk person, or storm trooper, etc).
The game helps chrono-immigrants like Nico learn the Other-beings and sentients in an intragalactic society.
The next update to the Patreon will be a labyrinth with the Dark Victorian characters Euryale and Elvie!
More soon,
~~Elizabeth

FREE Nico Bingo Card for Darquepunk readers!
Hello Friends!
First, the link to my Patreon and a public post where you can right click/download the Nico Bingo card:
NICO BINGO
THE post also explains my long absence from writing my books, an absence which I'd only do for money (kicking and screaming). :-p What got me through the movie production that took up months of my time were many, many audio books, hence my Goodreads activity. Then, when I switched to another animation project (rush job), I needed more of an adrenaline pace. I dropped books for streaming.
Murder/suspense/thrillers get one hitting the deadlines---cozys, romances, magical realism, and dramas not so much. Horrors turned out to be irritating (me, shouting at my poor iPad: "Really? REALLY?"). I don't know about you, but horrors place a huge emphasis on clueless protagonists. There's a fine line between sympathetic characters and contrivance; tragedy and gratuitousness.
Lots of violence in some books, interestingly, seemed porn'y. Murder/suspense/thrillers were successful if they hit the right pace. Murders are hard to write! Can't say I've done any (yet) with correct pacing, but I try. :)
I'm rambling! IF you've read this far, THANKS to everyone reading Nico and Bear in Monster Stalker and Fae Came On the Plane!. This Bingo card is for you. :)
Mind, the Bingo is easy to win, and I forgot to figure out a prize for winners. So play for fun and the next Bingo game i come up with, I'll plan properly. Enjoy!

An update:
...I'm freelancing at the moment and am listening to fiction on audio books whilst I draw. Quite a few of them are DNF for me, either for story reasons or for a narrator I can't enjoy.
For one thing, 'creaky voice' affectation bothers the heck out of me!
So I'll be adding a few books to my Goodreads library to remember ones I might have enjoyed---especially for story---or simply to recognise that the production and acting was very good, though I may not have found the story to my taste.
My choices are odd too, depending on what's available to borrow from Overdrive. Yay for libraries!
In other news, I did finish a 25K word licensed novella for a gaming franchise---the first draft, anyways---so that's good. This and the animation freelance means I've had no time for my own manuscripts and especially for my Patreon. :-/
I can't keep away from my own stuff for very long, however, and will probably peck away at them secretly!
I hope this finds everyone enjoying their winter and holiday season!
