The Devil's Triangle: A Jett Landry Mystery

"There I was, at this joint on the south side of town. It was a hot, sticky night, and all I wanted was a break from the heat… and to be left alone. The bartender just looked at me, so I said, “Give me a whiskey and Coke, hold the Coke, make it a double, and keep ‘em coming.” I had a lot of thinking to do, and tonight wasn’t the night to do it. The bartender grunted, turned around, poured whiskey in a glass, and set it in front of me. There’s an art to ordering a drink; if I don’t get anything else right in this life, at least I got that.

That’s when she walked in. Dark hair, dark eyes, and dark skin with long legs and nails. She was beautiful. I was hooked and there was no turning back. But I didn’t let on. I kept my hands on my drink and my thoughts to myself. I held my breath even though her sweet, sultry scent filled my nostrils and swirled around in my brain.

The bar was empty, but she took the seat next time mine. She fumbled around in her purse, took out a cigarette and put it between her lips. She leaned over and touched my arm. Electricity pulsed through my body and lit a fire in my gut. I turned to find her staring into my eyes. “What’s a girl got to do to get a light in this place?” she asked. Without taking my eyes off her, I pulled my lighter out and flicked it alive. But I hesitated… because sometimes you’re lighting a cigarette, and sometimes you’re lighting a fuse."

It's been one month since the release of The Devil's Triangle, A Jett Landry Mystery. It's been quite the roller coaster, going up and down the hill. For a short while, TDT reached #1 in New Releases for Conspiracy Thrillers, #6 for Conspiracy Thrillers, and was around #5000 overall on Amazon. Since then, the inevitable happened and it's gone down, as books often do after their release.

This has been the most dramatic response to a new book out of the six before it. One thing I'm lacking, though, are ratings and reviews. It has two ratings here on Goodreads (5.0, 4.5 - thank you!) and one on Amazon (5.0 - thanks!). Great so far, but if you've read the book, please leave an honest rating/review. I love the feedback, even if it's not what I expect to hear.

It’s been a while. The journey from the start of this book to its upcoming release is a story in and of itself— but finally, after a long wait, The Devil’s Triangle will be released on November 6, 2025, in paperback and as an eBook.

If you haven’t read any of the Jett Landry novels yet, this is a good place to start. The Devil’s Triangle stands alone— you don’t need to know what came before to enjoy the story.

In The Devil’s Triangle, our intrepid, resourceful private detective, Jett Landry, agrees to help her old friends, Tommy and Greg, investigate what they believe was a UFO abduction from thirteen years ago. Jett is taking a break from work, but she needs a distraction, so what would be more fun than going to UFO conference and helping her companions figure out what really happened?

But Jett has her own reasons for going to the conference, and things start to unravel from the start. Soon Jett learns there is a deeper mystery than any of them imagined, and all leads converge on a mysterious ranch located just outside a stretch of woods in deep East Texas known as “The Devil’s Triangle.”

This is my favorite Jett Landry story to date. It’s part science fiction, part road trip adventure, and all private detective noir. Jett finds herself in a world of campy genre-music, drum circles, and late-night conversations about everything and nothing. You’ll experience Tommy and Haley’s beautifully complex relationship and their friendship with Greg— Tommy’s awkward best friend and Jett’s brilliant IT consultant—as this found family grows closer through danger and discovery.

Melinda makes a comeback as Jett’s best friend, and camping buddy, as they explore a revelation that has haunted them since high school. Angelique, Jett’s “Girl Friday,” is back with all her playful snark and loyalty. Even Steve the Cat makes an appearance— the calm in the middle of the storm. He just wants the pets and scratches while the world crumbles around him.

Jett Landry is a private detective in Port City, Texas. After a chaotic and adventurous youth (Read the Jett Landry Saga), Jett has settled into her new life as a Private Detective, taking over her father's business: Investigative Associates. At 30 years old, Jett is the millennial version of the film noir private eye; navigating a world of corruption, deception and organized crime. She's clever, gutsy and she can hold her own in a fight. Her specialty is finding and helping survivors of human trafficking, but Jett has her own agenda, and her work often puts her at odds with some extremely dangerous people.

Trench coat: Jett likes to wear fashionable trench coats, to preserve and modernize the mystique of the old school private eye. Looking good is important, but her trench coats also serve a practical function. Black leather is her favorite.

Coffee: Like most people her age, Jett is addicted to coffee. You'll often find her sipping on a caramel macchiato from her favorite downtown coffee shop as she goes about her business.

Camera: Sometimes you need to let the bad guys know that you know what they're up to.

Necklace with the Cool Backstory: Jett bought this necklace when she was 15 years old (see The Fuse). She often wears it under her shirt, to honor the memory of someone who is always close to her heart.

Steve the Cat: Jett's cat has an attitude and isn't all that impressed with her feats. All he wants is his food on time and a good scratch behind the ears.

Hellcat: She doesn't want to have to use it, but she will if she needs to. In her line of work, violence is an occupational hazard.
