Brigitte Delery's Blog - Posts Tagged "vampires"

Hi Friends, Fans and... whatever else starts with F... (Fill in the blank, haha)

Since this is my first blog on here and I just claimed my author profile, I figured I'd answer a few questions I've gotten recently. With that, here's my FAQs:

1- Will there be more books in the same world as Precipitous Nightmare's Valentine Dream?
YES!
(That's a resounding yes that echoed throughout the Dual Realms of Dream and Nightmare, in case anyone couldn't tell.)
I currently have a trilogy planned that will be centered around the Nightmare King, Dream King, and a young woman with the power to make wishes come true. The first book is already written and I'll be running it through a final edit before I start releasing it on Kindle Vella later this month. After its Vella run, it will move to ebook form and will be in KU.
In addition to that, I have a short novella currently on Vella titled "Hunter Nightmare's Circus Seduction" that is set in the Circus Macabre in the Nightmare Realm. This one will be in an anthology titled Nocturnal Enchantments that will be going onto KU Oct 30th. The anthology will be available for one KU cycle (3 months).
I have more stories planned for this world, including a series of Circus Macabre novellas. I'm pretty sure there will be more spinoffs once I'm immersed in writing those and the planned trilogy.

2- What's this whole Kindle Vella thing I keep talking about anyway?
Kindle Vella is Amazon's serial platform. Stories are released in episodes (short chapters or scenes) one at a time until the story is finished. Some serial stories go on for years (similar to an ongoing TV show or a comic book series.) Readers buy packs of tokens to read the stories, and the cost generally comes out to around 10-25 cents per episode/chapter, depending on the length. (It's always 1 token (around a penny) per 100 words, but you can get discounts for buying larger packs of tokens)
Currently, I plan to release most of my stories on Kindle Vella first, then later move them to book form. I usually expand the story when I convert to novel form for pacing reasons, so there are often additional scenes or expanded scenes in the book.
In essence, this means that the Kindle Vella version is an early access edition.

3- Vampires... I heard something about vampires?

Yessssss... the vampires are coming. Soon.
I plan to have a preorder up within the week and a launch of the first volume of Courtyards of the Lost around Halloween. If you've read it on Vella, you know what's coming. If you haven't and you think "hot mess vampires in a New Orleans facing the end of all things supernatural" sounds interesting- stick around. The book will be in KU when it launches and is the start of a huge storyline (currently almost 200 episodes on Vella) that will span multiple books. There is already a spinoff serial and I'll soon have a short story spinoff exclusively available to my newsletter subscribers.

4- What are these other books in your Goodreads list- I can't find them?

So.... a lot of them are the Vella versions of stories that haven't been released as ebooks yet. A handful were from my days writing contract stories for Bryant Street Shorts/Scribd platform. Specifically, the Witch stories and Angelfire Chronicles. They are only available on Scribd currently.
These were all specifically contracted as short stories, so they're structured that way, not as a novel. The Angelfire book was more cohesive since at that point the focus of BSS moved toward a more connected storyline instead of five short independent stories.
As for their future- no, I probably won't be expanding on any of those books/stories unless I get the rights back from that platform and I don't plan on pursuing that any time soon. Feel free to read them if you want, but don't expect anything other than a handful of short pieces that are not connected to any of my other, far more expansive story worlds.

5- How can I get notified when new books come out?

The two easiest places to get that news are on Facebook and my newsletter. I have a Facebook reader group called Brigitte Delery's Darkness and Sparkles Cafe where I post news about what I'm working on, new releases, free and discounted book promos, etc. I also post things like character images/art and open up discussions about my stories. My newsletter offers similar updates and lots of behind the scenes glimpses of my current projects.

OK- I think that's all for now. Thanks for reading my stories and I hope you're excited for all the fun things to come!
