I joined the Army in 1986 to conduct a four-year long field trip. My mission: to understand in my own neurology, what it means to be a soldier. To walk in the boots. To sweat in the heat, experience the cold like no civilian has ever experienced the cold, to suck and be smoked and end up loving the men I’ve served with and the things we did together.
