Happy Thanksgiving from our home to yours. I pray that you have a day filled with love and laughter, surrounded by those you love the most. May He look upon each of you with favor. May He be the Light unto your paths. To Him alone be all glory, honor and praise!
If you’ve never read the entire chapter of 1 Corinthians 15, make that your Scripture reading for the day. We have an amazing Sunday school teacher, and he says this, besides John 3:16, is the chapter Christians should read and rememb...

Backstory – Where It Began
I don’t often compose blog posts that have to do directly with my writing. A recent post involved my writing journey, but I don’t talk so much about the books themselves. I’m making an exception this week.
First, I want to thank all of you who have purchased my books and followed my blogs posts. I cannot tell you how much that means to me. All my author friends (all of us are in the Christian writing world) would be nowhere without you, our faithful readers. For me and for them, we are so blesse...

About My Writing – Some Random Thoughts
I’ve been writing this blog since 2014. That’s a long, long time. Recently, my hosting site had a glitch, and I lost over 200 subscribers. That’s a lot of readers. Laws say I can’t send out emails to them explaining what happened and asking them if they’d like to continue to have my posts land in their mailboxes. At the least, it’s considered in poor taste to do so. And I’m a Southern gal. ‘Nough said.
Seems kind of weird doesn’t it? I did nothing, yet I’m the one being punished for something to...

If AI Takes Over Most Jobs – What’s Next?
A recent conversation between my husband, one of our four sons, and I brought up the topic of AI taking over so many jobs. The son mentioned recently lost his very good job in the IT sector to AI. He loved that job, and he’s having a hard time finding work. Where do we go from here? What’s next?
That conversation was very interesting. We talked about how quickly things are happening. I mentioned having seen a reel in which two people were conversing about how quickly movies will be made in the n...

3 Lessons From a Walk in God’s Creation
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork (Psalm 19:1 ESV).
My husband and I have traveled a lot lately. We love spending time with our family. One of the joys of traveling is taking those back woods roads that most people don’t take these days. We avoid the freeways as much as possible. There is no way we will plan a trip that includes driving through Atlanta.
Those roads less traveled offer us a glimpse of God’s handiwork not truly seen and appreciated fr...

Bare Branches and Blank Pages: 3 Lessons
During the Fall, we observed leaves falling, revealing bare branches. Where we live, the mountains of western North Carolina, apple trees surround us. We love seeing them go through all the seasons, from bud, to apples in a variety of colors, to the gnarly, twisted, bare branches revealed in the late fall. This is my Hubby’s favorite time of the year as he loves seeing those bare apple trees. Something about them simply calls to his heart. I love that he’s so observant.
This is the time where th...

4 Lessons From the Parable of the Sower
Having been born in south Alabama, I remember vividly the Peanut Festival held yearly in Dothan, Alabama. Fall is a season of harvest of peanuts, but also of cotton. When the trucks rolled down the roads filled with cotton ready to be ginned, sometimes the roadsides were so white with cotton it looked as if it had snowed. Homegrown crops harvested between September and November include leafy veggies like collards, kale, turnip greens, and mustard greens. Root veggies are also ready for harvest,...

Falling Leaves and Letting Go – 5 Faith Lessons to Embrace this Fall
There are so many things we can embrace in this season of Fall as we watch the leaves change color and eventually fall. It’s a time of change, for sure. But it isn’t all about the leaves and the season. This is the perfect time to reflect and make needed changes in our lives. Here are five lessons to embrace this Fall as we watch the leaves change and fall.
CONTROL
I’m not what one would call a control-freak, but I sometimes think, I would have done that differently. Sometimes we cling too tigh...

Pumpkin Spice and Prayer – Building a Cozy Fall Writing Routine
I love Fall. It’s my favorite time of the year. My first child was born at the end of September, and my birthday followed his by eleven days.
The hectic pace of summer days is past, and things are evolving into a slower, calmer rhythm. It’s time to settle into all that is cozy and warm. This just came to my mind, No wonder I write cozy mysteries.
ALL THINGS PUMPKIN SPICE
These days Fall is all about Pumpkin Spice this or that. I know most of my friends go nuts over pumpkin spice, but I must avoi...

Family Reunions – Sharing Old Memories and Making New
The NLT version of the Bible mentions family in some form 399 times. Family is so important that the Bible lists the genealogy of Jesus in both the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke.
Family reunions are always interesting. When I was a child, my Daddy’s side of our family met in south Alabama every year in July. It was held at a place with spring water feeding the pools. Watermelons were placed in nearby small holes formed by the cold springs. Just mentioning them makes my mouth water.
