My name is Mark Oborn. My beautiful, adoring and childhood Sweetheart wife of 22 years, Claire Oborn, died suddenly and completely unexpectedly on Wednesday 17th April 2013 aged 43.

She was apparently fine at 0830 but by 1900 she was gone.

I began writing because we all build bubbles around our lives, we build bubbles of assumptions about what will happen, we build bubbles that tell us everything will be okay, we build bubbles that give the world meaning, we build bubbles around the security of our marriage, we build bubbles around the security of other relationships… And sometimes those bubbles burst.

When Claire died it left me cold, alone and dark – I was lost without her.

My therapy was writing, and this is my story.

This is not a dark book.

Book about grief

What an incredibly strange couple of weeks it’s been. I’m writing this as we come out of the Covid-19 lockdown, it’s been a time of social isolation and not much paid work so it’s been an opportunity to work on other projects, of which I have many, you know me!
