Marta López Moersen, de Santurce, Puerto Rico. Su madre y tíos nacieron en Loíza, Puerto Rico, en una finca grande a las orillas del Gran Río de Loíza.

Escribió esta novela inspirándose por las vivencias contadas por sus tíos y por tantos cuadros de vejigantes, palmeras y vistas puertorriqueñas que pintaba su madre.

Ha vivido también en España, Panamá, Uruguay, Ecuador, Francia y Washington, DC.

Graduada de Florida State University.
