Best YA Fantasy Giveaways Online: Your Ultimate Guide to Snagging Magical Reads
December 1, 2024
Winter, winter, Christmas dinner ❄️
I can't believe it's already the final month of the year. It seems like I just sat down to write my first blog of the year, discussing my New Year's resolutions. With the holiday season approaching and only a few festivals remaining, I'm still attempting to fit in my holiday reading. I only have two left:

*Skipping Christmas by John Grisham - My eldest daughter recommended me this book. She said she couldn't stop laughing & loved how she could feel the spirit of christmas within the book. In case you've never heard of the book, there is the movie out "Christmas with the Kranks". Though she assures me the book is better. If you've heard of neither, here's a small summary: Imagine a year without Christmas. No crowded malls, no corny office parties, no fruitcakes, no unwanted presents. That’s just what Luther and Nora Krank have in mind when they decide that, just this once, they’ll skip the holiday altogether. Theirs will be the only house on Hemlock Street without a rooftop Frosty, they won’t be hosting their annual Christmas Eve bash, they aren’t even going to have a tree. They won’t need one, because come December 25 they’re setting sail on a Caribbean cruise. But as this weary couple is about to discover, skipping Christmas brings enormous consequences—and isn’t half as easy as they’d imagined.

**Christmas in Bethel by Richard Paul Evans - I bought this for myself as an early Christmas present. I always make sure to read my early Richard Paul Evans book. In case you haven't heard of it, here's the summary:
Leigh Beth Stilton has never liked the holidays. After growing up in an unstable home, escaping an abusive marriage, and witnessing daily tragedies as an EMT, Leigh just can’t bring herself to care about Christmas cheer. In fact, she’s so convinced she’s not worth loving that one winter’s eve, she decides she can’t go on—until she comes across a book called Bethel and starts to read. Leigh is unfamiliar with the author, J.D. Harper, but his words speak directly to her. She’s never felt so seen and understood, and this connection gives her the strength to carry on. She avidly reads every novel Harper has written, and when he comes to town for a book signing, she jumps at the opportunity to meet the writer who means so much to her.
With my cookies baking, Christmas lights aglow, and the tree sparkling, it's the perfect time to relax and read. I'd love to know what you're reading this holiday season! Please leave a comment below. If you're searching for something to read, I have a few events coming up to conclude this wonderful year:

Immerse yourself in the magical celebrations of Christmas on the Square, a charming event scheduled for Saturday, December 7th, in the picturesque town of Burgaw, North Carolina. Baking is my cardio
Hello, my post-scary goblins! I hope you all had an excellent Halloween and indulged in a delightful amount of candy! As for me, I spent the spooky evening immersed in editing my latest work, the creative process flowing amidst the Halloween vibes. While I was engrossed in perfecting my craft, my youngest took on the role of spreading joy by handing out treats to the eager trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood, adding a touch of warmth and festivity to the night.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who graced the book signing event at Next Chapter Books & Art in New Bern, NC, this past Saturday. The experience was truly enriching and inspiring, as I had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful individuals, each with their own unique stories and perspectives. Your presence and support meant the world to me, and I am genuinely touched by the enthusiasm and positivity you shared during the event.
__________________________________________________________________________________
Each year, I reflect on my New Year's Resolutions with gratitude in the month of November. In January 2024, I set intentions for personal growth, mental health, & my writing career. These resolutions guide me towards well-being, happiness, and development. They remind me of the power of intention and the importance of aligning goals with values. Reflecting on past resolutions, I appreciate the journey, progress, and lessons learned, seeing endless possibilities for growth and fulfillment ahead. My 2024 NYE resolutions were to:

Read More- I have completed 6 out of 8 books, including various genres and authors. Excited for the last two: a new release by Richard Paul Evans and the first Practical Magic Series book recommended by my daughter. Reading inspires and enhances my writing, offering new ideas, techniques, and challenges for personal growth and professional development. Grateful for the chance to learn from the masters of the written word.

Set Realisitic Writing Goals - Throughout this and previous years, I've grappled with setting expectations too high, leading to disappointment, or setting expectations too low, resulting in burnout. Despite this, I've maintained a daily output of 800-1000 words or editing two pages. Balancing productivity and self-care is crucial to my writing journey and mental well-being. I aim for a sustainable creative process that nurtures both my writing and personal growth. I'm learning to navigate creative expression with resilience and insight by pacing myself and prioritizing self-care.
Take more creative breaks - Recognizing the significance of mental health, I struggled with overworking, but learned to take breaks for physical and mental well-being. Incorporating leisure activities helped me recharge and enhance my writing process, emphasizing the importance of self-care for creativity and a healthy mindset.

Overall, I am pleased to report that I have made significant progress towards achieving my goals. It has been a fulfilling journey thus far, and I am determined to maintain this momentum in the coming months and even years ahead. I am grateful for the dedication and effort I have put into pursuing these goals, and I am excited about the prospect of setting new objectives for the upcoming year and beyond. As I look towards 2025, which is just 59 days away, I am filled with anticipation and enthusiasm for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. I am committed to continuing this path of growth and self-improvement, knowing that each goal achieved is a step towards a more fulfilling and successful future.

Boo-lieve It or Not

Halloween is a time bursting with creativity, thrill, and communal joy. With a diverse array of events happening this season, there’s something to enjoy for everyone, whether you're seeking scares or just a festive atmosphere. Keep your eyes peeled on local listings and social media for the latest updates and ensure that your October is filled with laughter, joy, and a few delightful surprises. I hope this season is packed with thrills, chills, and unforgettable moments. From spooky decorations to lively festivals, there's something for everyone. Grab your costumes and get ready as we explore some of the best events happening near you this Halloween!
Looking for a festive vibe? Halloween festivals are perfect for families. These events often feature pumpkin carving contests, costume parades, and spooky-themed games. Here are the upcoming hauntingly good times:

Event 1: Autumn Fest in Pender County Courthouse Square
this special occasion is scheduled for Saturday, October 19th, from 10 AM to 6 PM. Distinguished by a 5K race and a costume contest, it offers a unique experience compared to previous events. While the flyer contains details, I will provide further updates closer to the date. I am excited to witness everyone's costumes and might even wear one myself. Keep an eye out for Rai's Plushies in costume at our booths! Looking forward to seeing you all there!
Event 2: Wilmington's Funky Fright Fest - RECENTLY ADDED

This recently added event, scheduled for Sunday, October 20th, promises an exciting experience for attendees on Market Street in Wilmington. As Market Street is a hub of activity, parking can be quite challenging due to its limited availability. It is advisable to arrive early to secure a spot in the free parking areas nearby. Rai's plushies, a delightful collection of adorable animals, will undoubtedly be a highlight of the event. Overall, this event presents a wonderful opportunity to spend a delightful afternoon in the heart of Wilmington, surrounded by creativity, entertainment, and Rai's beloved plushies. Make sure to mark your calendars and join in the festivities on October 20th!
Event 3: THE BURGAW AUTUMN CONCERTS - Pt. 2

Thank you for visiting us on friday!! Rai's Plushies & I will be present at the next event (October 25th) which is scheduled for Friday, October 25th (Folkswagon). The festivals will run from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, with the concert starting at 6:30 pm. If you have any inquiries, the city of Burgaw has provided official information on this flyer and their website: https://burgawnc.gov/Calendar.aspx?EID=779
Arriving early is advisable as parking can be challenging. Even as a vendor, I struggled to find parking despite arriving very early last year. Looking forward to seeing everyone! It's going to be a lot of fun!
If you are unable to attend the upcoming festivals or markets listed, there is no need to fret! The exciting news is that there are numerous events planned all the way through December, ensuring ample opportunities to engage with the festivities and explore the offerings. Additionally, there is even more reason to celebrate as the book series is now available at the prestigious bookstore chain, Barnes & Noble. This expansion into such a well-known retailer opens up new avenues for readers to discover and enjoy the captivating stories within the series.

Furthermore, the reach of the books extends to local bookstores like Next Chapter Books & Art in New Bern, NC, showcasing a commitment to supporting independent retailers and connecting with communities on a more intimate level. The presence of the series in a variety of locations not only enhances accessibility but also fosters a sense of inclusivity, inviting readers from different regions to immerse themselves in the world created by the author.
I am planning to organize more events with increased spacing between them and in various locations (such as SC, GA, VA, UT), but the holiday season might affect this schedule. I will keep you updated on all activities related to the Zelina series, The Glyph Master series, Ream stories, Rise of the Vanquisher, and any other Vella's books, including interviews, podcasts, and festivals. Stay informed by reading these blogs and following my social media posts on Facebook, Tik Tok, & Instagram. Make sure to visit bookstores, Barnes & Noble, libraries, and, of course, thrift stores!
Remember, as you prepare for all the spookiness, don’t forget to bring the spirit into your home with decorations and costumes. Focus on creating memorable experiences with friends and family to ensure you have a hauntingly good time this Halloween!

See you at all the festivals, book signings, and on social media!

First Day of Fall
I can't believe it. I blinked & it's already September, not only that it's literally the first day of fall! I've had such a fun summer, traveling, beaches, summer reading, etc. I can't wait to start my fall reading list, which I always keep simple. One re-read & two new reads. I'm always looking for suggestions but here's my plan for this fall:

1 - Slewfoot: A Tale of Bewitchery by BROM. This was reccomended to me by my eldest daughter. She takes after me in the fact of she enjoys Halloween/scary readings all year round. This book is not a super long read, but my daughter explained it as a dark fantasy set in colonial new england around the time of the witch trials. It's about a young woman who arrives to a Puritan colony betrothed to a stranger, only to become a widow when he dies under mysterious circumstances. She fights for what freedom she has, staying true to herself, her past, & doing what it takes to survive in world intent on hanging anyone who meddles within the dark arts. My eldest explained it in a way that made me excited, it's currently sitting next to me on my desk & I can't wait to start reading it. You can purchase it on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or ThriftBooks. It's also avaliable in most libraries as well!

2 - Anne of Green Gables by LM Montgomery. This is my yearly re-read. I don't know how else to explain it, but since I was a child, this story has felt like fall. I put on the movie soundtrack, & become one with Anne (with an E) again. Yes, it is a movie series, TV series, & an 8 Part book series, I really only read the one & watch the first movie in the movie series. In case you've never heard of it or have read it, here's a small summary: Anne Shirley, an 11 year old orphan has arrived on Prince Edward Island only to discover the Cuthberts wanted to adopt a boy! Before they can send her back, she wins them over with her fiesty attitude, her imagination, & her love. It's a wonderful protrait of a place, time, family, & love. You can purchase this book series anywhere as it's still an american beloved book. Its also avaliable at most libraries, however it typically is well sought after during fall so get yours now!

3 - Home is where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose. While this is a typically shorter book, reaching at 249 pages, it's a real page turner is what the Barnes & Noble sold me on. She claims to have been on the edge of her seat while reading it. While I haven't read it yet, I'm already impressed by the cover & the art inside. In case you haven't heard of it, it's about when three estranged siblings reuinite after their mother's funeral to sort out her estate. While going through their parent's belongings, they stumble upon some videotapes that ecapsulate their childhood. However, one of the tapes reveals a night back in 1999 of their parents covered in blood, a dead body, & a solemn pact. The siblings must now decide to leave it within the past or uncover every dark secret their mother took to the grave. I already can't wait to read it, but it's going to be my read closer to Halloween. I love a good mystery & family horror. It's relatively new so you can purchase most places you can get a new book & as far as I know it's not at the library just yet but I keep checking!
I know it seems like it's not a ton of books, which it isn't. The reasons for the few books is because of the FIVE events coming up in September & October. None of which count any vacations or trips to see families. Here's what is upcoming:

Event 1: White's Farm -
It's coming soon!! It'll be next weekend, Saturday September 28th from 10 AM - 3 PM in Vanceboro, NC. You can pick your own pumpkin & grab a good book to read!! It's going to be so fun. Of course Rai's Plushies will be there as well, hopefully with some fall plushies or some very cute strawberry cows again. In case you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or you can visit their website (https://whitesfarmvanceboro.com/) which has information such as tickets, parking, time slots for the hay rides, etc. I can't wait to see you all there!!

Events 2 & 3: THE BURGAW AUTUMN CONCERTS
(A TWO FOR ONE DEAL).
Rai's Plushies & I will be there on both dates. It takes place on Friday, October 11th (Turkey Buzzards) & Friday, October 25th (Folkswagon). The festivals both run from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm & the concerts start at 6:30 pm. In case you have any questions about anything, the city of Burgaw has put official information on this flyer & their website: https://burgawnc.gov/Calendar.aspx?EID=779
It might be wise to get their early, even as a vendor I found it hard to get parking & I was there super early last year. I hope to see you all there on both dates! It's going to be such fun!

Event 4: WOODMEN OF THE WORLD LODGE.
This even takes place also in-between Events 2 & 3. It takes place on Saturday, October 12th from 10 AM - 4 PM in Newport, NC. This event is so cool because vendors will be inside & outside!! I hope the weather is nice that weekend. Rai's Plushies will be there again as well as myself, signing autographs & sharing informaiton about my cats or what I"m currently reading. I hope to see you all !

Event 5: Autumn Fest in Pender County Courthouse Square.
This event takes place in between the two Burgaw events. It takes place on Saturday, October 19th from 10 AM - 6 PM. This one is a little different from the other events as it has 5K race & a costume contest! There's information on the flyer but of course I will update you with more as the time comes closer. I can't wait to see you all in your costumes, I might wear mine as well. Rai's Plushies might also be in her costume, so keep an eye out for our booths! We will see you all there!
If you can't make your way out to any of these upcoming festivals or Markets, don't worry about it! I have a ton more planned all the way to December AND my book series are being sold in BARNES & NOBLE!! I've included the locations below & I even saw some in a local book store (NEXT CHAPTER BOOKS & ART) as well in New Bern, NC.

I am attempting to schedule more events with more time in between and in different locations (For example going to SC, GA, VA, UT), but we'll see how that goes with the holidays coming up. I will continue to provide you with updates on all activities related to the Zelina series, The Glyph Master series, Ream stories, Rise of the Vanquisher, as well as any other Vella's books, interviews, podcasts, and festivals. Stay tuned by reading these blogs and following my social media posts on Facebook, Tik Tok, & Instagram. Be sure to check the bookstores, Barnes & Noble, Libraries, & of course any thrift stores!

Lemme tell you somethin' ♂️
Happy Sunday!! I enoyed seeing you all at the Back to School Vendor Event in Jacksonville, NC!! It was so fun & they had such good food there, I literally ate until I almost threw up in the parking lot :) It's hard to believe that next week is September. I remember like 15 minutes ago, I was writing my New Year's Resolutions & giving tips for you all to keep them going. I have still being doing them, maybe not as strongly but I am doing my best, I promise!!
If you missed the Back-To-School event, don't worry! I've added some more that are upcoming to the NC/SC area!

Holly Ridge Annual Liberty Festival & Fireworks - this one is the most upcoming one as it takes place this upcoming saturday, August 31st. I will be there (With Rai's Plushies of course) from 3 PM - 9 PM. It'll be lots of vendors with food, live music, & a whole dedicated kids-zone. I do still reccomend getting there early as Holly Ridge is a smaller town so there's limited parking avaliable.

INCREDIBLE CON - I'm so excited!! I haven't done many Comic-Con's this year & this one is going to be awesome. I will be there both days with Rai's Plushies for the full days. It takes place on Saturday September 14th (10 - 5 PM) & Sunday September 15th (11 - 4 PM). T-Minus 19 days until this convention & I'm so excited. I feel it might be too early to pack but I really want to. Not to spoil anything, but Rai's Plushies is making something so cute for you all for this comic-con! I hope you all will love it!!

The White's Farm Fall Market Day - I can already smell it. I'm so pumped for this festival - I can taste the pumpkin everything now! It's taking place on Saturday, September 28th from 10 AM - 3 PM in Vanceboro, North Carolina. It even has pumpkin picking & kids activities. I'm really excited for the food & more importantly the drinks! Hot, fresh apple cider, hot chocolate, Pumpkin spice ANYTHING! My mouth is watering already thinking about it. I'm also going to use that time to pick our pumpkins for the year too! See you spooky, pumpkin loving fall beauties then!
If you can't make your way out to any of these upcoming festivals, Markets, or Cons, don't worry about it! I have a ton more planned all the way to December AND my book series are being sold in BARNES & NOBLE!! I've included the locations below & I even saw some in a local book store (NEXT CHAPTER BOOKS & ART) as well in New Bern, NC. Also, really fun thing happened to my eldest daughter in Raleigh this weekend! She was doing some shopping for her new apartment & found 1/2 the book series being sold!! I was so pumped to see them on those shelves! I hope whoever bought the first book enjoys it and goes back to get the rest of the series :)

I aim to schedule more events with more time in between and in different locations (For example going to SC, GA, VA, UT), but we'll see how that unfolds. I will continue to provide you with updates on all activities related to the Zelina series, The Glyph Master series, Ream stories, Rise of the Vanquisher, as well as any other Vella's books, interviews, podcasts, and festivals. Crafting Perfect Plotlines & Summer Reading ☀️
Greetings everyone! I trust you've been enjoying a wonderful summer season! Personally, I've had a great time with book signings, beach outings, and my usual annual trip to Utah. Although I've been trying to stay on top of my summer reading list, I must admit that with summer coming to a close on September 22nd, I feel a bit behind. Nevertheless, I want to urge all of you to continue reading! Stay motivated! Remember to update your GoodReads reviews and book journals. You'll feel accomplished once you transition to your fall reading list. However, remember not to rush - relish each book as it comes. Appreciate every word, cherish every page. Just a reminder, my books are now being sold at Barnes & Noble in Jacksonville and Wilmington, NC! They're on the young adult fantasy shelves within these beautiful beige walls! I have listed the addresses and store locations above so please feel free to go check them out!

During this summer, I have faced challenges in my writing due to personal issues, life circumstances, and time constraints. Despite these obstacles, I have been identifying strategies that aid me in writing during such periods, which I am now keen to share with you! Here's what I do when I'm trying to craft the perfect plot line but am unable to:
Breakdown Tasks
If you're working on a large project whether it's writing, housework, a trip, etc., break it down into smaller tasks.
Set Attainable Goals
Set reasonable goals for yourself, such as writing a little bit every day, just focus on cleaning the kitchen, read only one chapter, or for a set amount of time each week dedicated to editing.
Journaling
Writing by hand can activate a different part of your brain than internal dialogue, which can help you slow down and consider your thoughts more actively. You can also try using journal prompts.
Reach out
You can ask people you trust for advice and guidance.
Reach out to fellow authors, reach out to persons on social media
I wholeheartedly believe that these practices hold the key to unlocking your full potential, whether on your writing journey or in the grand tapestry of life itself. By integrating them into your daily routine, you can cultivate a sense of inner harmony and clarity that will propel you towards your goals and aspirations. Trust in the transformative power of these practices, for they have the capacity to elevate your spirit and awaken your truest self.
Even though there are no festivals scheduled at the moment, rest assured - more events will be organized throughout the year! I aim to schedule them with more time in between and in different locations, but we'll see how that unfolds. (Happy Pre-Fall!)
Stay tuned for new updates!

Events and Barnes & Noble Stuff n' Things
Good afternoon, dear readers! I trust you've had a pleasant couple of weeks - I certainly have! I've been recuperating from my extended trip to Utah and dealing with the airport mishaps. During this time, I attended some enjoyable festivals where I had the pleasure of meeting many of you! I wanted to share some incredible news with you. My books are now being sold at Barnes & Noble in Jacksonville and Wilmington, NC!

They're on the young adult fantasy shelves within these beautiful beige walls! I have listed the addresses and store locations above so please feel free to go check them out! I'm so excited - more excited than Willow playing with her bubble toy :)

Yes, I know I've been adding last minute festivals but I can't promise this won't be my last one!

It's going on TODAY, saturday July 21st. I know it's short notice since I added it on Monday and there's a possibility of rain but I'm really hoping y'all can join us. It's happening from 5-8 PM in Surf City, NC. Please get there early, Surf City has a weird limited amount of parking and I really recommend getting there early. Rai's Plushies will be there as well today so feel free to buy some cuddly, home-made friends as well. We will see you there! :)
I was also excited to discover another event to participate in this July! The event is scheduled to take place on July 27th from 10 AM to 4 PM in the Wonderful location of Pine Knoll Shores here in North Carolina. I am looking forward to being among fellow vendors, including Rai's Plushies, where I will have the opportunity to interact with attendees, sign books, and showcase and sell my books.

I know you all were bummed about the Christmas in the Summer event in Jacksonville being postponed but don't worry, It got rescheduled ;)
It's now in august!! It'll take place on August 10th from 2 PM- 7 PM and it'll have DELICIOUS goods. Rai Plushies will be there again (it'll also be her birthday so don't forget to tell her happy Birthday!)
After all the preparations and excitement surrounding all these upcoming events, I made sure to take some time for myself this weekend to rest and recharge. I spent the day walking along the beach, eating junk food, watching fun movies, and overall just appreciating the simple joys of a relaxing weekend. I hope and wish you all are having an enjoyable sunday as well.
If you can't attend the upcoming event then don't worry - I'll plan more events this year! I'm trying to space them out more via date wise and more geographically but we will see how that goes! I will always keep you up to date with everything that is happening with the Zelina series, The Glyph Master series, Ream stories, Rise of the Vanquisher, any other Vella's, books, interviews, podcasts, and festivals. So keep reading these blogs and all my social media posts including Facebook, Tik Tok, & Instagram.

Timepiece Ranch & Events
Hello all! I know it's been a while, I've just gotten back from the writing retreat with Richard Paul Evans at Timepiece Ranch in Utah (see below for some images). I hope you all were enjoying my posts about the Alpacas and the scenery. It was such fun.
While there, I feel I truly honed my storytelling skills with a community of fellow authors. Each workshop and critique session fueled my passion and deepened my understanding of the writer's craft, leaving me inspired to embark on new literary adventures. What an honor, I cannot wait to go back again next year!

I know when I returned home, it was short notice but I had a new festival added! It was the Coastal Car Care Car Wash Fundraiser. I was there with Rai's Plushies. I was even featured in an article! Despite the weather being super hot and muggy, I still had a lot of fun meeting all the fellow vendors and meeting all of you! I can't wait to do it again :)

While I'm not attending Galaxy Con, I was excited to discover another event to participate inthis July with Rai's Plushies! The event is scheduled to take place on July 27th from 10 AM to 4 PM in the beautiful location of Pine Knoll Shores here in North Carolina. I am looking forward to being among fellow vendors, including Rai's Plushies, where I will have the opportunity to interact with attendees, sign books, and showcase and sell my books.

This event presents a wonderful chance to connect with fans and fellow enthusiasts, as well as to share my passion for writing and storytelling. The atmosphere of Pine Knoll Shores is sure to add a special touch to the event, with its serene surroundings and pleasant ambiance.
After all the preparations and excitement surrounding the upcoming event, I made sure to take some time for myself this Sunday to rest and recharge. It's important to find moments of relaxation amidst busy schedules, allowing for a refreshed mind and renewed energy for the days ahead. I spent the day unwinding, walking along the beach, eating junk food, watching mindless television, and overall just appreciating the simple joys of a peaceful Sunday. I hope and wish you all are having an enjoyable sunday as well.
While I won't be doing any events for the 4th of July, I hope you all have an excellent long holiday weekend and fire off one big firework for me! If you can't attend the upcoming event then don't worry - I'll plan more events this year!
