I mean, after a year and a half of working on Immortal North, rereading the manuscript about two hundred times, spending several hours on a single sentence and often times in the end throwing that sentence away, cracking open my heart like an egg for the pan, the daily struggle of trying to make something with the potential to move a reader—to move myself—to risk something for love and beauty at times at my expense, to try and make something that lasts, to spend 12,000$ working with four editors and two cover designers—why so much to not give it five stars?
