My First Online Reading Was a Success (Sort of)
I'm not a Facebook novice, but I'd never done a Facebook Live book reading before tonight. As the time drew near, I found my heart racing and my stomach doing somersaults.
I worked hard to keep my breathing even as I clicked the "go live" button.
After a painfully awkward couple of minutes in which viewers saw my eyes darting from side to side as I mumbled, "I wonder if this is working?" several times, my daughter texted me to let me know that I was successfully live streaming and that I looked great. One hurdle cleared! I moved forward with a little more confidence.
Once I actually started reading, I found my stride. I read for a while, answered some great questions from the "audience", and felt right at home talking about real estate.
I feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment. I overcame my fears and read my written words out loud to people who turned out to be friendly and welcoming. I had no reason to fear.
