Caleb Smith is the visionary behind Peacebunny Island, a 22-acre animal sanctuary on the Mississippi River. Youth guardians continue to oversee the care and training of rare breed rabbits who have the personality to become comfort bunnies / therapy animals.

While in college, he is looking forward to summer months spent with volunteers who help take care of the colony of furry friends and who bring them to share hope and hoppiness.

The Peacebunny Unit travels to bring comfort to with the grieving or wounded, seniors in assisted living or hospice care, families with special needs, and much more.

He loves sharing the stories of the animals in his life, how they have blessed others, and the lessons he's learning on the journey with them. ...more

It was supe…moreI set aside two hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays to be devoted to reading journal entries and try to add the details surrounding the scene. It was super fun to watch home movie clips and start with the dialogue and go from there. Setting aside the time was key or it would never happen. (less)
