This area is teeming with culture and history and lore. I can't imagine the stories you heard from your family. I am working on a WWI story now, which is set in France, but after that publishes next August, I am planning on bringing it back to the south. Perhaps across the Mississippi and Louisiana bayous with a more cajun flair. I can't wait to do that research. Thanks again for your question.(less)

The idea that everything could be taken away from me at a moment's notice was something that - I won't say frequented my mind - but certainly loomed in the periphery and threatened my happiness at times. But I'd say the main premise of the story arose from my experiences with various patients I'd treated over the years. Their stories, which I'm sure would sound bizarre to most people, really started to pique my curiosity about 'what is real'? I could dish out medicines to treat thought disorders and psychosis, and most patients would improve, but there was always that niggling thought in the back of my mind: What if they're telling the truth? What if this man really did come from a different planet? What if that boy really can hear the voice of his deceased grandmother? What if that woman really did come back from the future?(less)
