I was born and raised in southwest Missouri, where the towns are small and the hills grow delving deeper as you go south. I've wanted to be an author since I was five years old. I also wanted to be an artist and a ballerina that year. So, two out of three isn't bad. My mom introduced me to my love of fantasy with The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien and my father shared his love of science fiction with The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
I have been writing for most of my life on and off. I look forward to sharing my books with readers. There will be more books to come.

I would hang with the crew on their ship and visit the planets and space stations throughout her universe with the crew that is really more of a family than a group of coworkers. Love her books and the worlds she creates. (less)

Haiku Sonnet #6

Slava Ukraine

Fields of golden wheat

‘neath skies of blue, fluttering.

Bristled stocks reach skyward.

Roots mingle with strewn

corpses, repose, unburied.

Sunflower petals

unfurl. Blood like dew

gathers, beads of garnets drop

onto the hearth soil.

Seeds of hope carried

in pockets sprout. Symbol of

strength and persistence.

Brave volunteers fall,

others strive on for freedom.

I am not Ukrainian. My ancestors who

I found it very thought provoking to read the stories of early Semitic stories of gods and goddesses. I loved seeing how the cultures of the region shared more than trade goods. They shared similar gods, poetic devices, and similar beliefs. There are ...more

I wasn't a long read, but I enjoyed this remaining of Cortez's arrival at Tenoxitilan. The characterization of these historical figures displays their flaws and weaknesses well. The ending breaks with history, but I don't think I would have liked it ...more

“There is a power that courses through this land, beneath the rocks and trees. This power was not meant for us, but we feel it in our hearts and in our bones. It bends us to its will as the wind bends the branch. We flutter, sway and break at its will.”
Mandy Botlik, Ripples in the Milkyway

“The forest spoke in a language all its own but one that he understood. It whispered where the rivers ran and where caves delved deep. Quieter it spoke of roots and rocks and creatures of the night. He listened intently, his steps fell soundless and even but for the rattle of his wrists.”
Mandy Botlik, Shadows of Memories

“We read books to find out who we are. What other people, real or imaginary, do and think and feel... is an essential guide to our understanding of what we ourselves are and may become.”
Ursula K. LeGuin

“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
Neil Gaiman, Coraline

“Sometimes you wake up. Sometimes the fall kills you. And sometimes, when you fall, you fly.”
Neil Gaiman, The Sandman, Vol. 6: Fables & Reflections

“Life is a disease: sexually transmitted, and invariably fatal.”
Neil Gaiman

“There are so many fragile things, after all. People break so easily, and so do dreams and hearts.”
Neil Gaiman, Fragile Things: Short Fictions and Wonders
