The author has tried many creative outlets over the years, such as art in several mediums, ceramics, silver-smithing, floristry and landscape design. Writing, as an adult, had always been in the form of reports and record keeping, in her employment as both registered nurse and, more recently, a practice manager.

She did not expect that writing would be where her creativity would be found. But, inspired on visiting one of her daughter's university open days, the author decided to enrol on a local creative writing course.

What I have realised though, is that the stories are all 'here' and waiting to be let out; put down on paper. It's not a case of having to work at pulling them out. I don't know if that helps? I feel very passionately about my characters and know them profoundly.
And, I have been very strict with myself to allow time for my writing. It always feels stolen from elsewhere and indulgent, but I have worked hard on controlling my tendency to think it's not worth it. I guess this is really 'I'm not worth it' but I'm trying to deal with this lack of self-respect! This is an ongoing battle!(less)

Oh, no! I’ve let March pass without a word, and now almost April too! I’m sorry to be so neglectful, no excuses…just ‘life’!
