I don't have writer's block in the traditional sense---which is the inability to find an idea or something to write about. But I just have the worst time stepping away from a story and seeing how I can edit it or rearrange parts to make it read as a well-flowing story.

A number of my readers have contacted me and kindly suggested, "You should mail your book to Oprah!" or "Send your memoir to Jenna Bush!" It pains me to explain the bookselling process to them, and how almost all famous people who recommend books are sponsored by the huge-big-name book publishers. Jenna and Oprah don't actually choose books. Or maybe they choose a book---but from a carefully selec Read more of this blog post »
