Ronit Plank is author of WHEN SHE COMES BACK, a memoir about the loss of her mother to the guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and their eventual reconciliation and HOME IS A MADE-UP PLACE, a collection of short fiction which won Hidden River Arts' 2020 Eludia Award.

A Seattle-based writer, teacher, and editor, her work has been featured in The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Writer’s Digest, The Rumpus, American Literary Review, Hippocampus, The Iowa Review, and elsewhere.

If I had to sum it up though I think for me it's the time I can dedicate to being in my own head without feeling like I'm supposed to be doing something else.

I can work out relationships and my understanding of behavior; think about and dwell in the past if I want, create something new from something old, and learn how I feel about what I and the people I care about have experienced. I especially like this idea of creating something from where nothing was before.(less)

It's a muscle, a feeling, and when you find it and begin using it regularly you almost have your own writing habitat that you can go back to again and again no matter where you are. It's a comfort to know that wherever you are you can put on this creative mantle and get to work.(less)
