So, as I began reading the ARC which I was able to download from the author's invitation, I wasn’t expecting to find much that I didn’t already know.

Wow, was I wrong.

The Babylon Blueprint for Authors: Proven Strategies for Publishing, Promoting, and Profiting - 100 No-Cost, Low-Cost Ways to Engage Your Audience is not only beautifully written, but it also presents a remarkably fresh and practical approach to the modern publishing landscape. What stands out immediately is Hancock’s ability to blend what’s been proven in the past with today’s marketing realities. Drawing inspiration from the classic The Richest Man in Babylon, he applies those principles to the business of being an author, showing how clarity, discipline, and creativity can work together to build success for one's book.

The book is built around 100 no-cost and low-cost ways to engage readers, but it’s far more than just a list of tips. Hancock weaves each tactic into a larger philosophy of author entrepreneurship. He helps readers understand not just what to do, but why it matters and includes practical examples and a list of specific actionable steps. Brilliant.

In addition to the marketing “weapons” he introduces, I also particularly enjoyed the concise yet comprehensive overview of today’s publishing industry and options. As the founder of Morgan James, a pioneer in alternative publishing, Hancock clearly outlines the differences between traditional, hybrid, and self-publishing. It’s a refreshingly clear eyed view of the industry and options available to authors.

Having read many books on marketing and specifically book marketing, I can assure you that this is a must read. Regardless if you’re just beginning your author journey or are a seasoned writer and looking to breathe new life into your marketing efforts, The Babylon Blueprint for Authors deserves a spot at the very top of your to-read list.
